This place is so much more than a martial arts school. It’s a place to learn respect, confidence, compassion, and camaraderie. The instructors are all incredible people who care so much about everyone. My family has 4 kids and myself who practice there and we love it. They even host events outside of the classes! I highly recommend OTSD for any one of any age who wants to start learning martial arts.

I can't even explain all the ways OTSD has helped my son. His self-confidence and self-esteem has improved in other sports, socially, and academically. I wouldn't trust my son to anyone else. He has a brachial plexus birth injury (BPBI) resulting in lifelong disability. The world isn't going to cater to him or be light on him. He already faces obstacles because of his race, double because of BPBI, and he needs to learn to live with and through it all. OTSD holds our son those standards - that he can do anything he wants and needs to do, even if it looks a little differently. OTSD requires their students meet the necessary standards for promotions and holds them accountable, while also understanding of differences.

My son has been learning martial arts here for two years now, and I cannot recommend OTSD enough. He is neurodivergent, and the instructors do a masterful job balancing accommodating needs with supporting his growth. He is learning so much more than how to defend himself. He’s learning about dedication, hard work, respect, and community. And the owners and instructors here really do make it a community. They care about their students and families and about the larger Omaha community. They hold regular family events throughout the year and engage in community food and supply drives. It’s a martial arts studio built on values, not on tournament trophies.

Watching my children grow and make friends in this community has been such a blessing. They encourage all forms of self improvement, not just how to punch and kick. For adults and children, this dojang is an amazing place to try something new, learn skills, or practice an old skill you may have let get away from you, all while connecting with fantastic people from many different walks of life.
