I trained under chokelab in the beginning of my jiu jitsu journey for a few years prior to moving out of state. From approximately 2019 to 2022. The academy run by Sensei Josef Manuel is of the highest quality. All instructors were incredibly knowledgeable, humble, and respectful. The facility is clean and meticulously maintained with a wide variety of classes available suitable to those just starting out or seasoned practitioners. While training at choke lab I always felt as if I was a part of the community and have made some lasting connections that I still talk to this day. If you’re looking to begin your jiu jitsu journey (and you absolutely should) you will be making a wise decision to go with Choke Lab.

My three kids joined this academy, and the confidence I’ve seen in them after their classes is incredible. The environment is so positive and welcoming, and the training is truly tailored to all different skill levels. I’m beyond happy we decided to join. As a parent, there’s such a strong sense of peace of mind knowing my kids are learning discipline, respect, and how to defend themselves if they ever need to. We’re so grateful to be part of this community!!

Sensei Josef and his academy are just special. There are few people to be met in this life that harbor the amount of passion for anything that sensei has for Jiu Jitsu and the martial arts as a whole. He is strict, he is disciplined, he is wildly knowledgeable and a constant student of the game. There are no better qualities for an educator than those he possesses. All he truly want's for anyone who comes through his doors is for them to learn, grow and be inspired. He is committed to all of his students journey's, whatever you are looking to get out of training, and I guarantee you will feel that walking through the doors. I’ll try to keep short. Been training as long as Josef been open with my kids since they were 3 years old. Just like church change my life for a better person. Beautiful, clean, respectful place that you can find. A wonderful instructor and teammates. Just come to a tryout and you will be our next teammate for sure.
