Colosseum Gym
About
Colosseum Gym in Newark, NJ offers training in MMA, boxing, and kickboxing, supported by a dedicated team of instructors including Yolanda, Coach Sarah, Coach Ernest, Alana, Eddy, Sean, and Mike. The facility spans two floors, providing ample space for full-body workouts, running, and boxing. Members appreciate having at least two of each machine to minimize wait times, though some note that certain equipment could be more up to date. A standout feature is the women-only workout room, which offers privacy and comfort for those who prefer it. The locker rooms are described as standard but could use some improvement to enhance the experience.
Members consistently highlight the welcoming, community-focused atmosphere that sets this gym apart from more commercial alternatives. Front desk staff, particularly Enoch, receive frequent praise for being exceptionally helpful, friendly, and dedicated to making everyone feel valued and supported. Coaches like Eddy and Rich are noted for their skill and effectiveness in helping members achieve their fitness goals. Reviews also mention that the gym is clean, with well-maintained showers and restrooms, and offers good classes and plenty of parking. The pricing structure includes biweekly packages, with a basic option around $30 per month, though some members feel the single location is a limitation compared to chain gyms.
Overall, Colosseum Gym is portrayed as an affordable, laid-back environment where staff go above and beyond, from assisting with workouts to safeguarding lost items. It attracts a diverse range of members, from teenagers to adults, who find it a supportive place to train regardless of fitness level. An affordable, laid-back gym with very friendly staff and skilled trainers. Coach Rich helped me improve my strength, and Enoch works hard to make the place run smoothly and inviting. I'd recommend this gym to people of all ages and at every fitness level. (It's got good classes too, and plenty of parking!)

My teenage daughters and I were recently joined this gym. We used to spend over $200 at lifetime but we switched to Colosseum gym because prices, service and people work out here clean well after or before they use equipment. Also there is female only workout room ,we are really comfortable to come here! Young man at desk who’s name is Enoch is super nice to explain and show us around the whole gym! Definitely You can achieve goals at this gym.

I’ve been a member at Colosseum for a few months now and I’m so impressed with the culture and staff. Coach Eddy is one of the best trainers I’ve ever worked with, and every team member I’ve encountered, whether at the front desk or on the floor, has been pleasant, respectful, and encouraging. The facilities are clean (showers and restrooms are always fresh), and the staff goes above and beyond—whether it’s holding on to my lost AirPods for two weeks (lol), keeping my Stanley cup safe (which I also left at the gym for a few days---I'm obviously absentminded!), or quickly addressing a safety issue I flagged. Colosseum truly makes you feel seen, valued, and supported. Definitely a gym I'd recommend!

So I started coming to this gym about a month ago, recommended from a friend & so far, so good. This gym is a biweekly payment of different packages, so you can decide what suits you best. The basic package is about $30 a month, which at times may seem not worth it because this is the ONLY location they offer, compared to other gyms, so that sucks. However, I personally feel with this gym it’s more of a community than commercial. Upon entering the gym, the receptionist Enoch made me feel VERY welcomed. Any questions I had about any machine, he is nothing but helpful, not just helpful but literally happy to help! He even helps me with positioning my workouts, sometimes being new to an environment you don’t feel comfortable just asking strangers , so it’s good to know that the staff, well at least Enoch, is very willing to help. You can tell he enjoys being in this atmosphere. There is an all womens workout room, which is pretty cool because again, sometimes you don’t feel comfortable to be around alot of people so it’s like you can still get your workout done in private, its a nice option. I feel like with The equipment here I have alot of options, at least 2 of every machine so your not waiting on a line, like other places. However some of the machines can be more up to date. The locker room is pretty standard for the women, can definitely use some improvement, spice it up alil. This is a 2 floor gym & upstairs is very nice & open, so you can get spot of full body workouts/running/boxing done. The community within the gym is overall welcoming, most people won’t bother you if you don’t want to be bother. Other people will look to help, if you look clueless, can be a blessing or a curse. Anyways 4 stars from me, can always use improvement.
