One of the best martial arts school in NJ or even USA. For me, judo and SAMBO have always been more sport than anything. I show up, train, and participate in competitions, and possibly win awards. Yes, with judo there were more ceremonies, but for me they were just another part of the rules. SAMBO had certain rules, judo had others. It was this way until I started going to Cranford Judo Karate Club. Gradually, the traditional aspects of judo began to open up to me and become clearer. It opened for me the pathway of judo not just as a sport, but a way of life. I saw completely different possibilities that I couldn't dream of before. I began to understand the philosophy of Dr. Kano's judo. Having now received my Sandan certification from Kodokan, I first and foremost want to thank Sensei Nick Yonezuka and the legacy of Yonezuka family for this opportunity.

We joined Cranford Judo Karate Center about 10 years ago , my oldest son turned seven when my husband decided he will sign him up for judo because simply he wanted him to grow up with great values like; hard work , responsibility, and a healthy life style . All this turned to be a passion for a great sport of judo , amazing work ethics , responsibility and beautiful friendships that my kids and the whole family developed over the years. My younger son watched his older brother practice and compete and one day when he was only six years old, he went to Sensei Nick and asked him if he can join the Judo Club . He is now 13 and is enjoying to be part of this amazing club and trying to follow his brother’s foot steps . It’s a great place to have your kids grow up and be part of something bigger and better .

Its very rare and very awesome to have such a high level spot in a small local setting. Its a family run business that has warmly welcomed both kids and adults into the world of Judo for decades. You'll find day 1 beginners all the way up to olympic athletes call this place home! If you're just looking for a good workout, to learn some moves, and have some fun or if you're looking for all that plus the ability to train with high level world class athletes and compete check this place out.

Being a part of this dojo is a very fulfilling experience. The training culture is intense but friendly, and performance standards are high without being overbearing. Many of the folks who go here have many years of experience in competition and instruction, including 8 Olympians throughout its long history. Sensei Nick Yonezuka and his family represent a tremendous pedigree in the art and is driven to provide the best coaching he can for everyone, from Olympic hopefuls to hobbyists. In addition, I have found that people are always willing to help and provide feedback to improve my judo practice. If you are looking to learn judo, you would be hard pressed to find a better environment than this place.
