Our journey started with my son and husband joining the gym! My daughter has recently joined as well and I take classes too! They offer classes for everyone and what stands out is the family vibe! The owners not only care about their athletes and awards, which they have many of but they care about their families and who they are on and off the mats! I am so grateful for this place! The self defense learned is invaluable and the love is irreplaceable!

If you are looking for the best gym and best jiujitsu, muay Thai and judo academy. Then the coyote team at carlson gracie, is the place to go. Everyone there is so nice and The professor and coaches are very knowledgeable in old school, jiu, jitsu, and that is where I want and my daughter, my granddaughter, to go. My sister has been going there 4 years, and now it's a 3 generation event for them. If there is any bad reviews on this from anyone, it is because the professor and the coaches don't have time for drama. They are a serious business, and they raise the confidence of their students, all of their students love them. And the rest of the academies out there in albuquerque and surrounding areas, they respect them. The city of albuquerque has given them multiple awards for contributing to the community And best in city. I highly recommend carlson gracie to anyone and everyone who is looking to better themselves and to give their children the confidence that they need to get through today's society.

My family is about 3.5 months into training at this gym so I thought it was time to post a review. This is our first time joining this type of gym. My hubby grew up on wrestling and I've done some kickboxing back in the day but kiddo had zero experience aside from wrestling with his dad at home. I've been meaning to get my child into BJJ based off a recommendation from his uncle who participates in martial arts. An incident pushed me to start finding our goldilocks gym so I could feel comfortable my child could handle himself if need be. We tried out one gym beforehand and my son was ready to sign up right away but I told him to wait till we try a few more before making a final decision. This gym was the second and last one we visited. This spring, they moved into a new space with mat/ring on the first floor and gym equipment on the 2nd floor. For safety, they have cameras in common areas. The space is utilized well and the mat area is large and very open. There are changing rooms on the first floor and shower on the 2nd floor. They have a children's nook where kids can play and/or do their homework. Despite all the traffic that comes through daily, the location is clean and bright. My child completed the 3 day free trial a bit after Memorial Day. He fell in love with it right away. He's made great friends with all the kids and looks forward to attending. Professor and his team provide excellent instruction for both kids and adults. Myself and hubby signed up not long after my son joined. We figured we might as well get a workout in if we had to be there anyway. There are many families that train together which is nice to see! While we all participate in BJJ, we've also tried the conditioning class, judo, muay thai or used the equipment upstairs. Every now and then the owners offer a self defense class to the community. What I love most about the gym is the community. As a military family, we know how hard it can be to find a good community. Everyone has been nice and inviting which I did not expect especially as a female in a male dominated sport. We have an inspiring group of ladies that continuously come out to the mat to train. It's not uncommon for the ladies to out number the men for classes. If you happen to be looking for a gym for your daughters, this is the place! There are so many young ladies and girls who train here. It's very inspirational to watch them train. It makes me wish I started at their age! I included pics of my son's journey so far for reference. He's gained so much confidence and already confided in me that he would like to earn a black belt one day. I invite everyone to come try out this gym. You won't regret it!

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ If I could give 10 stars, I would. There are gyms… and then there’s Carlson Gracie Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Coyote Team. I’ve trained in over 10 gyms across the country in my life, but this—this—is the last gym I’ll ever call home. From day one, I wasn’t just welcomed—I was adopted into a family. The owners pour their hearts into every student, and what makes this place even more special is the way their kids genuinely invest in teaching my kids. They lead by example—with kindness, discipline, and enthusiasm—and somehow make my kids want to train. Want to grow. Want to get better. The atmosphere here is something you can’t manufacture. It’s real. It’s raw. It’s built on respect, love, and community. The class schedule is diverse and flexible, offering plenty of opportunities to show up and put in the work—whatever your goals may be. Professor is a leader in every sense. He pushes us to be excellent, on and off the mats—but never loses sight of each person’s journey. He understands that not everyone wants to compete, and he honors those who show up just to learn, to grow, to heal. He teaches everyone like they matter—because here, they do. My own son, a pediatric cancer survivor who once faced an uphill battle just to move again, now runs and trains like every other five-year-old. This gym gave him that gift. You can’t put a price on that. Whether you’re chasing championships, trying to build confidence, looking to blow off steam, or just want to come strangle your friends in a safe, healthy way—this is the place. It’s one of a kind. And it’s worth everything. Thank you, Carlson Gracie Coyote Team, for being more than a gym. You’re family.

This is a great gym. My son has been coming to this gym for almost a year. He’s now 10 years old and a gray belt and competed in two different tournaments and absolutely loves the coaching staff and the team. It’s also great for making friends.
