reviewsWhat Members Say

Members describe Sandia Budokan as an excellent traditional dojo offering quality training in Kenjutsu, Karate, Jujutsu, and Aikido. Many praise its holistic approach that helps children succeed using both body and mind rather than just brute strength. However, one reviewer reports experiencing what they perceive as discrimination against people with disabilities, specifically mentioning that communication stopped after disclosing an amputation, which contrasts with their positive experience at another Muay Thai gym.

I think I emailed them about my interest and once I told them I was an amputee they stopped responding. I guess discrimination against the handicapped is part of this particular martial arts school, but I'd already done Muay Thai for 6 months which helped me immensely in a real life fight. Thank God those Muay Thai guys didn't refuse me like Sandia Budokan did, or things could be much worse. I only live about a block away right now, but even if they decided cripples also deserve the right of self-preservation in combat, I still wouldn't want to give money to someone who decided it would be better to leave me defenseless than teach me self defense
