I trained here for 3 years 2016-2019. Trained MMA, kickboxing, karate, and BJJ. Man what an awesome and a great experience I had here because always wanted to get into martial arts as a kid. Growing up with Batman, power rangers, and ninja turtles got me into this. Awesome experience and learned a lot. The senseis are amazing both sensei Joe and sensei Vicky are and were amazing. Both have taught me a lot for 3 years. After that covid and the pandemic was the reason why I couldn’t continue but there’s always time in life to get back and continue whenever time is right.

My two teens have been taking classes here this past year. Love that they have age appropriate classes for both and amazing staff and is a local business. We're conveniently within walking distance to both locations and I would absolutely recommend for kids any age. They have fun recreational nights and also day camps for school holidays.

I used to go to Blitz for the adult kickboxing and MMA classes and I can’t say enough good things. Joe is the best sensei and Vicky is fantastic as well. I took a break when I injured myself (unrelated to class) and then moved out of the city :( and I haven’t been able to find a Dojo that compares. I knew I loved Blitz but didn’t realize how special they are there until I started to try new Dojos around me. Everyone sucks! I need Blitz back in my life. Miss you all!

As a divorced single parent of a 10-year old, shuttling between DC and NYC, I've rotated through my son's momentary intrigues w/ soccer, tennis, ice hockey, lacrosse, coding and chess. But not until we discovered Karate/BJJ, was there a sustainable enthusiasm. Certainly, the patterns, order and discipline of Karate/BJJ are part of the appeal to a hyperactive (ADHD) kid. But the Sensei of Blitz Dojo -- Joe and Victoria -- are such extraordinary educators that Izzy Levine has found seven different Dojos in DC, not to mention two others in Brooklyn, to be significantly inferior. I make my living evaluating teachers in high schools and colleges, but I've never seen a finer pair of teachers than Joe and Vicki. They have a remarkable ability to balance fun-work, while multi-tasking to make the smallest detail adjustments to improve their students. Plus, the Sensei have won numerous national titles which creates a foundation for the building of a Sport Karate tournament juggernaut in Central Brooklyn. The proof is in the number of students and parents happy to travel from Manhattan and far-flung Brooklyn neighborhoods (like ourselves -- 45 minutes each way) for the honor of training with such superlative instructors. Joe and Vicki were fortunate to train under one of the seminal Shotokan Karate figures on the East Coast (Dee Villalona). And they're celebrating Villalona's famously exacting attention to detail along with her inspiring both girls and boys. Indeed, Blitz kids must rigorously earn their Karate benchmarks beyond the more typical "belt factory"- McDojo model of many Dojos. Thank you, Sensei Joe and Victoria, for inspiring Izzy and his Dojo peers. It's an honor to watch such consummate professionals motivate young people to attain levels of excellence beyond what they (and their parents) had ever imagined each and every day!

Both my daughter and I attend blitz, and it’s become a staple in our lives. I love this place. Students are given such a great workout by very skilled instructors. The classes are always fun and different. This is a family owned and operated business and you can tell the owners and instructors care and put their heart and soul into it. A whole community has formed within blitz - It’s really more of a family. I feel lucky to have found such a wonderful place to learn martial arts. I've been coming for years and always look forward to it.
