Had a great time as a visitor. Mr. Motumbaxe was very welcoming and the instructor and students were friendly. Easy online waivers, $25 drop in fee, and you’re good to go. Would happily come back while visiting Brooklyn.

My son is having such a great time here. He’s making friends and socializing. He’s also learning a discipline that will help bring structure into his life. He’s autistic and has ADHD. In class he’s able to focus and fully participate. The instructors are amazing. They work with him on small things like looking at the instructor when they are speaking. They help him learn to control his body by using positive words and energy. He feels safe there. That’s extremely important for us as a family.

My son (age 7) started classes here over the summer. This studio is so impressive that I had to write a review. Wow! This studio and the instructors provide some of the best classes I've seen in NYC, period. We were looking for a martial arts practice and ended up here due to the high quality instructors, discipline, music, nice studio (clean, organized, has character, centrally located) and community vibe. I'm impressed by how much my son is learning and how he is beaming after classes. He is also getting a good workout- both physical and mental. Highly highly recommend.

I can’t say enough good things about this place. My daughter started jiu jitsu 5 months ago and loved it from day 1. If given the chance, she would attend class every day! Mestre Lampréia and Lee are amazing teachers. They are simultaneously nurturing and strict with the kids - instilling values of discipline, respect, personal responsibility, hard work, and perseverance. They have created a warm, welcoming and inclusive community that we feel very lucky to be a part of.

We were so fortunate to discover Motumbaxé Capoeira! Even before my son started, the communication was great and the team was very welcoming. The space is lovely and kid friendly. Lee and Mestre Lampréia are amazing with the children, knowledgeable and very professional. They've created a beautiful community with a great spirit and lots of fun! My son improved his overall skills, and became stronger and more flexible. Highly recommended!
