Love Honma Dojo - been studying here for the last four and a half years, and the quality of the classes & community is unlike anywhere else. Couldn't recommend it more!

I've been affiliated with Honma Dojo for over 10 years. Sensei Honma is an incredibly skilled teacher who embodies great humility, depth, and concern for his students. Karate training at Honma Dojo continues to teach me valuable lessons about perseverance, hard work, integrity, and community. I have also made life-long friendships here. Unlike any other dojo that I know of, this dojo feels like a true karate school, where students of all ages are valued and accepted at whatever stage they are at in their karate journey.

Truly life changing! I was nervous to start a new activity as an adult and but was looking for something that would allow me to both get physically fit and improve my mental health and focus. Joining the Karatedo Honma Dojo was the best decision I made! Sensei is an amazing teacher that has found the balance of pushing you but understanding everyone’s different needs! This dojo is focused on culture and self improvement. Sensei has also created a safe space for people of all kinds! Over the past year, I’ve grown a lot and become happier through both the karate classes as well as the strong community of practitioners I’ve met along the way! Honma Dojo is an excellent traditional dojo led by Sensei Honma. Sensei Honma has created a safe and rigorous environment in which students are provided with a strong foundation of fundamental skills and advanced techniques. Sensei Honma provides instruction not only in technique but also the deeper meaning and philosophy of Karate. The culture of the dojo is respectful, supportive and inclusive. The dojo is a wonderful place for both adults and children to learn and grow.

My son has been going to Honma Dojo for the past 3 years. I cannot recommend it enough. Not only is it the Karate discipline, method mentality and traditions... taught in its Purest form, and not some mashed up form of martial arts, but it has enriched my son, and the rest of their students with Integrity, Focus, Perseverance, Strength of Body and Mind, Culture, Life Lessons, self control, respect as well as self respect, endurance, empathy, humility, and a growth mindset of higher thinking philosophy. The skills of not only the self defense and strength of body, but more importantly the Strength of the Mind!! Sensei Honma is one of a kind, so authentic and deeply invested in his students on every level. Very personal, not commercial or generic at all. I feel so blessed to have come across this hidden gem of a Dojo, while the NYC market is saturated with multiple commercial Martial Arts places that don't offer nearly as much value to a child's life! 100% Recommend Karatedo Honma Dojo.
