About

Williamsburg MMA offers comprehensive training across multiple martial arts disciplines including MMA, boxing, Brazilian jiu jitsu, Muay Thai, wrestling, and kickboxing. The gym is led by owner and founder Roger Mamedov, who has practiced martial arts since childhood and comes from an elite training camp background. Co instructor Diego, a longtime student of Roger's since the school opened, joins him in providing high level instruction with each class following its own independent curriculum. The smaller class sizes ensure personalized attention that larger gyms cannot match, with standards set high to help students become better martial artists and people.

Family!!! I have been training here for almost 5 years and feel very blessed that I found it. The culture here is amazing. The owner/founder Roger Mamedov, truly treats EVERYONE, regardless of background, level, as family (I know this sounds cliché, but it is true). In terms of the curriculum, any MMA, martial artist fan, will really appreciate the environment. You are being taught by one of the best practitioners in the country (seeing is believing). Now, my 4 year old daughter has begun training here as well and I have seen tremendous personal growth in her. If you strive to challenge yourself and you are ok with being pushed out of your comfort zone, this is the place for you. Come and see for yourself. You won't be disappointed!!

As a first timer I was intimidated to come in, but Roger set up the class to be welcoming for a novice like me. Planning to come back tomorrow.

This is unequivocally the best MMA school in all of Brooklyn if not all of NYC. Roger has been doing martial arts since he was a kid and comes from one of the most elite camps in the country, and Diego has been his student since the school first opened. Roger and Diego, the two instructors, are true martial artists and provide an elite level of instruction. Each of their classes are different and follow their own independent curriculums. The smaller nature of the school gives students more personalized attention than you would get anywhere else. The standards from your instructors here are high, but you will become a better person and martial artist because of those standards. It’s an amazing and welcoming group of people- don’t hesitate if you’re looking to learn grappling or striking.

This is the gym culture you’re looking for. Can’t speak highly enough about everyone here. Roger and Diego both are high level experts who are incredible at teaching all levels while creating an open, friendly and extremely fun learning environment. It’s a perfect place for beginners (like me) and Pro fighters alike. If you’ve ever been interested in trying martial arts or want to take your game to the next level this is the place to do it. Plus, you’ll get in great shape. Who doesn’t like that?

This is the most welcoming martial arts gym in NYC. People from all backgrounds come here to train, and everyone is treated with respect. Whether you’re a complete beginner or more experienced, you’re welcomed the same. Roger, the owner, sets the tone. He’s patient, friendly, and genuinely cares about every person who walks through the door. I’ve been training boxing here 3 to 4 times a week since the end of 2024, and I’ve learned a ton just by showing up consistently. You don’t need any experience—just the willingness to learn. You’ll get an intense, technical workout. You’ll be learning real skills, and you’ll be tired. But you’ll be fine. And you’ll feel yourself getting sharper every time. The instruction is personal and high-quality, and the pricing is more than fair for what you get. If you’re even thinking about trying it out, come to a class or two. You won’t regret it. The community is real, and it’s one of the best parts of training here. People support each other, and it really feels like something you’re part of, not just a gym.
