An excellent place to learn martial arts. The instructors are patient with new students and really turn up the energy when working with senior students. With classes that are two hours long, four days per week, there's plenty to do

I started training at Eizan Ryu Jujitsu just over a month ago and it has been a really wonderful experience. As someone who is just under 5'2, its been really amazing to learn to use what I had previously seen as my disadvantage as my strength. This style of jujitsu has allowed me to keep up with and even give people twice my size a run for their money. The relatively small classes allow the senseis to give you a lot of personal attention. This dojo has a really great and welcoming atmosphere. Senior students are kind and encouraging and the senseis care about your individual growth.

I have been training with Shihan Maria, Sensei Stephen and Senpai Adi here for almost 3 months now, a couple days a week. These are some extremely dedicated and expert level practitioners with a long history and depth of martial arts experience that absolutely shows and makes for an extremely rich experience. Shihan Maria is very invested in the journey of her students and responsive to their individual needs, balancing the rigor required to teach serious martial arts skills with the light touch and playfulness needed to make it a fun and welcoming environment. I am excited for what I’ve learned so far and much more excited about what’s to come.

Eizan Ryu Jujitsu is not just performative martial arts that looks good being practiced in a Manhattan park somewhere, it's practical and effective self-defense taught by patient and truly dedicated professionals. The instructors guide you towards promotion through the belt ranks, while at the same time teaching you self defense techniques that can be applied on the way home if needed. Eizan Ryu Jujitsu makes you more aware of your surroundings on the streets and more confident while navigating them. I can't recommend the culture or techniques taught in this dojo highly enough. Sign up today, it'll change your life.

I have spent my 20s studying at Eizan Ryu Jujitsu. It is a great place to study martial arts. I moved away from NYC, but come and train whenever I can. This dojo is special and unique. It is quite small so students, no matter their level, get a lot of attention. It is safe and friendly. All instructors have many years of experience training, cross-training, and teaching. I can’t recommend this dojo highly enough!
