I began attending Washington Heights Judo in March of 2024, and after 25 classes, I can confidently say I’m hooked. My prior experience in Taegojitsu led me to seek a complementary martial art, and upon my Hanshi's recommendation, I ventured into judo to broaden my knowledge and skill set. This decision has proven to be transformative, both physically and mentally. From the moment I entered the facility, I was immediately impressed by the pristine condition of the space. The floors are immaculately padded with high-quality mats, creating a safe and comfortable environment for practice. The cleanliness and attention to detail within the dojo reflect the professionalism and dedication of the staff. The structure of the classes is dynamic and highly engaging. Sensei Julio, a knowledgeable and approachable instructor, ensures that the sessions are intensive, with students in constant motion, maximizing both practice and learning time. One of the standout aspects of this class is the ease with which students can ask questions. Sensei Julio consistently offers clear, insightful explanations, enhancing comprehension and application. His approachable demeanor fosters an open learning environment where no question feels too trivial. What sets this judo class apart is the sense of camaraderie and the fun, relaxed atmosphere. Sensei Julio masterfully balances disciplined instruction with an enjoyable, engaging experience, preventing the class from feeling overly formal or tedious. It’s a learning space where technique is honed without feeling like a rigid study session. I highly recommend Washington Heights Judo to anyone seeking to explore the art. Whether you're a beginner or experienced in martial arts, this class provides an unparalleled opportunity to learn and grow while becoming part of a welcoming community.
