“Daddy, karate will be a part of my life and who I am forever. I feel really confident about myself, in my body, and in my mind, and that’s all thanks to Shihan and my Senseis.” The words of my sixteen year old daughter. We were incredibly lucky to have had Ken Wa Ken Dojo recommended to us after she endured a terrorizing situation at the hands of a group of much older kids. As we now approach our fourth year with Ken Wa Kan, to say what we have both learned (We train together) has been truly life life altering, would be a huge understatement. I myself am now Brown/Black Belt at 52 years young, and my daughter is training toward Green Belt. Shihan Michelle, Sensei Zelda, and every Sensei and Senpai at Ken Wa Kan, meet you where you’re at, and prove to us that we can do anything, and that we are never too old or young to learn this truly beautiful Martial Art. Like my 16 year old daughter, as I approach 53, I too have a greater confidence in my body and mind than ever before. Ken Wa Kan is a community and a family. A family that we will remain forever thankful to be a part of. The epic mother /daughter team of Shihan Michelle and Sensei Zelda Gay have truly created a Dojo Of Love. And Badassery. It’s home.

Highest Recommendations for Ken Wa Kan. Training not only in karate, but in positive mindset, moral conduct and discipline. My son has been attending since 2nd Grade, now in his second year. The teaching staffs expectations are high, no nonsense and the kids step up and meet them. It is amazing to watch. A sense of community here in an otherwise fast paced city. As family owned and female led, lots of great role modeling going on here, along with kick a$$ training.

I love this place! A refreshing exception in the male dominated field of martial arts: a women owned, women led, family dojo. Maximum respect for the art, excellent instruction, faculty always available to answer questions and provide guidance. Diverse and welcoming student body, too. I'll come here to do karate forever.

Just started officially this week, and I’ve been absolutely loving it. Training under Shihan Michelle is amazing, my senpais have all been exceptionally welcoming and helpful, and the variety of classes offered provides me tons of options if I need to go another day or virtually. Highly recommend for anyone interested in Karate and getting fantastic and proper training and development. OSU!

Wonderful in every way. The people are so patient, intelligent, and very nice, especially my Shihan. I really look forward to a long and valuable experience with KenWaKan. They don't only teach self defense; I've developed more patience, tolerance, contentment, inner peace, and mind power.
