I have had my daughter training with Sensei Daisuke Matsumoto since the summer of 2021. My kid loved the dojo camp experience! Then when she started attending Success Academy, which have half days on Wednesday. He was very accommodating. I have seen the difference from other dojos that just promote the kids to just get a higher belt. He is very traditional and very respectful. Very family oriented. He is strict but fair. I remember my kid telling me she lost a stripe. Turns out she was throwing a medicine ball. Just happy no one got hurt. So he does discipline the kids. Love watching all the kids grow and get stronger and confident.

Our oldest kid started learning karate at this dojo in the summer of 2021, and our middle and youngest have since joined in too. Sensei Daisuke Matsumoto is a great teacher — strict about their forms and fighting skills while grounding the kids’ learning in the respect and integrity that’s central to the art. It never feels like he’s promoting kids through the belts just to churn through clients; he’s thoughtful about kids’ readiness and takes their training seriously. He’s also super fun and cares about the kids personally, whether it’s being playful with the littlest at the dojo or gently trolling the older kids. During summer camps, he teaches the kids how to cook Japanese meals and takes them on fun field trips. We love that our kids have been exposed to so many facets of Japanese culture, not just karate. And the community of folks is great. Kids are really taught to support one another other in class and at tournaments, and parents are team-oriented too. One thing I’ll note: we didn’t know this when we signed up, but RenshinKai is a full-contact style of karate, so the sparring can get pretty intense once kids get higher up in the belts. It’s incredible what these kids learn, and it’s a great style for self defense, but it’s no joke! Be prepared for a LOT of physicality.

I can't say enough good things about this karate school. Finding a place that feels like family, right here in our neighborhood, has been such a gift. What truly sets this dojo apart is the sensei's dedication. He communicates with me regularly, and it's clear he's personally invested in every student. My son has ADHD, and motivating him has always been a real struggle for us. I was worried about him sticking with it, but the sensei's unique ability to connect and motivate him has been incredible. He didn't just teach him karate; he made him feel seen and capable. Now, my son is happy, eager to go to class, and he's learning so much more than just moves—he's building confidence. In a city like this, knowing my child can defend himself is a top priority, and this school provides that invaluable skill. But more than that, it has become a place of community. It's a supportive environment where my son feels encouraged, respected, and part of something special. I am so grateful to have found this family.

This place I started when I was 5 it has been like my family ever since I would check it out if anyone in your family is interested in karate. The full contact aspect of it is the best part and what sets it apart from other dojos and you earn your belts and you can’t buy your way through. It is also extremely cheep to sign up witch is a big plus especially when you have a family. I would recommend it for all ages

Perfect Dojo - we have been coming here for almost a year and it has been a great experience for our child and family both. What we specially like is that they take teaching Karate very seriously. You really need to earn your belt, there’s regular sparing sessions and ample opportunities to attend tournaments. Our Sensei is very supportive, other kids are friendly and it’s like a community. We are happy we found this Dojo.
