I love the NY Aikikai. After a lengthy search to find an aikido home I finally found this one, and couldn't be happier. For people coming one time to visit or for those who are just starting their aikido journey, there is a place for you on our mat.

I've been visiting this space for over 15 years. I've always loved this dojo. It's a space rich with history, love, and dedication. The wealth of talented form teachers to student is abundant. It has a reputation for training that is hard and serious. While I agree with this, I feel over the years they've added a smile and a dash of joy. I love the growth I've seen over the years. Most recently the community has come together in this dynamic and inspiring way. The effort to include and bring everyone along on this journey is what all dojos need. If you're serious about learning aikido and you're in Manhattan this is the place to be.

I was here maybe 6-7 years ago. The dojo and instruction itself are really great, but I can’t say the same about the atmosphere. As a young woman brand new to aikido, I found myself continuously harassed by much older (male) regulars to the dojo. Therefore I cannot recommend this dojo for young women. I sincerely hope that things have improved since then. Safe to say I don’t do aikido anymore.
