An excellent place for true karate. Both youth and adults. They have an instructor to fit your learning style. You’re never too young or too old to start. Karate is not just an art but also a discipline. It teaches efficient body mechanics, respect for your elders, self sacrifice for the greater good, and of course self defense (which is only ever used as a last resort, when absolutely necessary). Classes are Tuesdays and Saturdays. Please give them a try!

My kids have been attending class here for two years now. I love seeing the growth in confidence and their physical ability. The senseis are top-notch and give a lot of one-on-one attention to the students. I would 100% recommend trying it!

I returned to Apex Martial Arts after a more than 20 year hiatus. I found the same dedicated lead instructor (Shihan Butch McGlaughlin) and more! The students there are welcoming and eager to learn, which helps everyone get better. I have to say, though, one of the true benefits of the school is the impressive group of black belt instructors (sensei's) that Butch has trained and mentored. They are so open, so welcoming, and so committed to teaching each individual right at the level they are. They insist on improving, but it is done from a sincere desire for each student to be their best. Patience is a key component in the process. If you are looking to give martial arts a try, you would do well to swing by and check out Apex Martial Arts. Very practical, very welcoming, and committed to helping you reach your goals.

My son and I are pretty new to karate and are grateful we have APEX so close! I knew I wanted to train in an Okinawan style (since I think its more fun, dynamic, and realistic for self defense). Every class and interaction has consistently been exemplary. APEX is also much more affordable and offers a large number of classes for the monthly price. (I shopped a lot). I'm continually impressed with professionalism, organization, and thoroughness of training we get (especially as a new student) to understand and hone the basics. TL/DR: 4-5 classes a week and about $60/month. Fantastic training (one on one at first). Fun style of karate. Professional teachers.

I've been a student at Apex for several years and my daughter studied here for a time as well. I can't recommend Sensei Butch Mclaughlin, the other black belt teachers and the dojo highly enough. The teacher to student ratio is low which means all students get a lot of personal attention. The curriculum is varied with elements of modern self-defense training along with a traditional approach to Okinawan Karate. It's a great fun, family-oriented environment where new and experienced students are made welcome. If you are thinking about the martial arts or have trained in the past come check us out!
