About

Christian Karate Academy offers both MMA and karate training in Oklahoma City, with a particular focus on children's programs and birthday party services. The gym provides structured martial arts instruction that emphasizes discipline and commitment as valuable life lessons. Birthday parties are a specialty, featuring mini karate lessons, board breaking activities, and unique experiences like cake cutting with a samurai sword. The facility allows families to have the space to themselves for events, creating a stress-free environment for celebrations.

reviewsWhat Members Say

Members consistently praise the gym's birthday party services, with multiple reviewers highlighting instructor Jonathan's ability to remember numerous children's names and organize engaging activities like board breaking and sword cake cutting. Parents appreciate the strong focus on children's development and the caring approach of the main instructor. However, some report frustration with administrative communication, particularly regarding inflexible Friday-only belt testing schedules and withdrawal procedures requiring 30-day notice with continued billing. A few reviewers mention that while Christian elements are present through occasional prayers, they expected more explicit religious teaching based on the gym's name.

I love this place! My grandson has been going here for about a year. They really care about the kids. The teachers are amazing. We even had my grandson's birthday party here, and it was the best kid's party I've ever been to. The man leading it learned every single kid's name. He taught them a little karate them led them in game after game. The kids ran their little legs off! Then they all got a chance to split a board with a karate chop. The people who run this place exemplify Christ in every way. I wholeheartedly recommend it!

Highly recommend booking a birthday party here! Jonathan was amazing and had all sorts of games planned, a mini karate lesson, board breaking and even cutting the cake with a real sword. It was stress free and we had the place to ourselves. Perfect for kids who just want to run around with friends and play games. 10/10 recommend!

We had a birthday party for my son here and it was SO good. The instructor facilitated it all, had games planned, taught a class, and remembered 19 kids names within a few minutes of meeting them all! Blew me away. My son got to cut his cake with a samurai sword and every child got to break a board. At the end the instructor said some VERY kind and encouraging words about my son to all of his friends. I will definitely be having another party here. I recommend this as a party destination even if you don't do karate here.

I unfortunately did not have a good experience here. I am a displaced, single parent who really wanted to put their child in an activity. I am a shift worker with difficult hours who relies on childcare providers for help. When I signed my child up I was told "we'll let you know when he's ready to test and we'll get him tested!". What I was not told was that testing is only done on Fridays and that we would not actually be told when he should test. After several months I was finally able to speak with someone and ask and was informed he was overdue to test and testing was only once a month on a Friday (when I am working 12 hours). I let them know I wasn't aware of that and it was unlikely I could do that and asked about my options....the front desk person shrugged and told me everyone else makes it work. I managed to take the day off work and my child ended up sick...I emailed and again explained my situation and asked about alternatives and options and they never emailed back. The main instructor/owner is good and great with the kids....of the 15 sessions attended he instructed 2 and the rest of the time it was teens and not greatly organized/handled. I finally had to ask about the process of withdrawing because my child was discouraged about not being able to test for his next belt and I was again shrugged off and handed a little piece of paper with instructions...they require a 30 day notice in writing with specific info and make sure to charge you even though you are likely no longer attending. I again gave them info about my situation and again got no response. They seem to tack "Christian" into the title, but I never heard a Bible verse or any teaching, occasionally they would say a quick prayer. Overall I felt pretty disrespected and disappointed.
