Redline Jiu Jitsu Academy

I recently traveled through the area and dropped in for a few days at Redline Jiu Jitsu. Having been to a lot of Jiu jitsu schools around the US, Ty’s instruction is outstanding—his attention to detail and ability to break down technique is world-class. The entire team of instructors is top-notch and the environment is incredibly welcoming to visitors and regulars alike. It’s clear everyone here has a true passion for jiu jitsu and for helping others improve. The facilities are very clean and well-maintained. If I lived in the area, this would absolutely be my gym of choice.

Although I’m not a member, I participated in a seminar led by Henry Akins at Ty and Redline BJJ in early November. What stood out was Ty himself—he was actively assisting throughout and would jump in to offer personal help and clarification. That willingness to guide a visitor, especially in a seminar setting, speaks volumes about his character and the culture of the gym. The experience was fantastic, and it’s clear this is a place focused on genuine learning and community. If I’m ever in the area, I’ll definitely drop in for a class. Thanks!

I have recently participated in the fundamentals class at Redline with a friend who is brand new to BJJ. They offered a well structured, safe and positive class experience. I have enjoyed revisiting fundamentals and continue to learn each time I go. I enjoyed it so much I visited the regular BJJ class. Everyone has been warm and welcoming, and the instruction has clear with opportunities for repetition and practice. I'm already using the moves I learned in rolls and look forward to building on them!

I can't say enough good things about Redline Jiu-Jitsu. Ty is extremely knowledgable in his craft and brings a high level of integrity to everything he does. He is amazing with both kids and adults, creating a welcoming and supportive environment. Whether you are a beginner, a woman looking for self-defense tools, or someone who has been training for a long time, you'll find this academy to be a place to grow and build community.

Redline is a safe haven for all who want to learn jiu jitsu. The owner is a strong yet friendly and professional leader that trains/ expects the same of his instructors. After 3 months, I've experienced nothing but professionalism and a class that works as a team to benefit, push, yet protect each other so both can become better practitioners of the art. No egos, no meat market mentality, just a place where even an older generation can safely practice and benefit .
