reviewsWhat Members Say

Members praise the dojo's welcoming atmosphere and high-quality instruction, particularly noting the "mutual benefit" philosophy where everyone helps each other learn. Many describe it as one of the best martial arts schools in Oklahoma, with a great training floor and traditional yet laid-back environment. However, some express concerns about safety, mentioning aggressive behavior from a black belt named Jonah, eye pokes during training, and a lack of acknowledgment for verbal taps. A few reviewers also note inconsistent scheduling information and training methods that may not provide enough resistance for realistic self-defense practice.

Just started taking classes here for Aikido. This is a great dojo with the best floor I've ever been on for training. The general feel is very laid back and inviting with still keeping a traditional aura. The people that I've met so far have also been very pleasant and eager to teach and learn.

The Google advert showed it was closed as I traveled from Enid. I arrived, waited 1 1/2 hours until the site said open at 1730. I checked the door and for a person, but nothing. I actually stumbled onto the calendar which showed nothing until 1900. I drove home to Lawton. Missed y'all. 😊😉😆

You will not find a better dojo in the state of Oklahoma. Classes are both welcoming and instructive. I've just completed my first month of Judo and I can safely say that it's some of the best martial arts instruction I've ever received. The philosophy of "mutual benefit" is on full display here as every student is ready and willing to help you learn and grow. As one of the oldest dojos in OKC, I truly believe it's one of the city's hidden gems.

Didn’t have a great experience here. I was accused of writing a bad review that I didn’t because I was out for a month, and had previously asked questions about their methods. They rarely train against tough resistance, which is bad because it can give students a false confidence that they can actually defend themselves and that is unusual for a Judo school. They claim it’s to prevent injury, but last time I checked, that’s how you learn to defend yourself. Needless to say, glad I went back to Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.

Their Black Belt Jonah who use martial arts as a way to be mat bullies to white belts. He would suffocate you using his body weight and is over aggressive with NEW STUDENTS. If you plead for him to stop he will simply ignore your request and keep compressing your chest. Meanwhile the other instructors watched and said nothing. I was also poked in the eye twice during the same class session by another instructor. Total disregard for safety and if you ever report it no one does anything about it. More importantly they're defending the black belt actions. Hence why I left. They don't acknowledge verbal taps as a tap and I requested a refund. Lastly if it takes 2 Black belts to quote on quote "stop" 1 white belt and multiple eye pokes.....I can confidently say that I must be doing something right with my life and my potential is very bright
