We had an incredible experience at Family Martial Arts Academy! The instructors were so patient and inclusive with my four-year-old, who needed a bit of extra encouragement to try the class. They struck the perfect balance between being warm and welcoming while holding just the right expectations to support his growth and help him stretch his abilities. It’s clear that they are both skilled and thoughtful, creating an environment where kids feel supported and motivated. I highly recommend this place!

We love this place! The Sensei’s care deeply about each student. My daughter has been coming here for over a year. She is learning so much more than karate. She is learning how to work with others, how to respond to fear, and how to show respect (to others and herself). They meet each student where they are and accommodate big feelings in a safe and respectful manner. We are so happy our friend recommended this dojo and we recommend it to anyone interested in karate.

We found Family Martial Arts Academy through the Get Out Pass. My brother, sister, and our families (6 adults and 6 kids total) all did a two week trial together. It was so much fun! The senseis all welcomed our huge group with smiles and personal interest in us as a family and individuals. We all loved the work out each session gave us and the opportunity to use our bodies and minds do something new. The history behind this dojo and the way they teach respect and community made it a great experience for us. If it were not for the fact that we live 45 minutes away from the dojo, our free 2 week trial very well could have turned into a karate habit. We would highly recommend Family Martial Arts!

Family Martial Arts Academy is such an amazing and supportive part of our lives. Our almost-10-year-old son has benefited so much from the excellent senseis’ warm but strict discipline. He started as a very impulsive 5-year-old, and is now ready to start studying for his Black Belt test. These people put their hearts and souls into making this an exacting but supportive experience. There is a real sense of community, with little kids all the way through adults showing up every day and putting in the work. I cannot recommend them strongly enough!

Absolutely the BEST, especially for children just starting out with karate/martial arts. We drive 20 minutes to attend because of the QUALITY of the instruction and the caring, dedicated and skilled Sen Seis. My son started when he was five and has felt like he belonged from the start. He has learned so much and continues to build his karate skills and confidence. The Sen Seis have backgrounds in education, occupational therapy, etc. and it SHOWS. We observed at multiple other martial arts locations before starting here. My son absolutely loves coming here and they go above and beyond to make children feel valued and families feel included. They are true experts. We love it here so much!
