Grappcademy is an excellent option for new and advanced grapplers. Coach Jerry has competed at the world level in BJJ, and is also experienced in traditional wrestling and Judo. He brings a respectful, fun, and flexible approach to coaching. He is straightforward about feedback on areas of improvement and gives you kudos for your strengths. When training with Coach Jerry, I feel like he really cares about my improvement as a grappler. On top of all this, he is a great guy to spend time with. The space is centrally located, a quick drive from SE Portland, Downtown, the West Hills, and inner SW Portland. I have trained and attended open mats at many BJJ facilities, and Grappcademy has a special vibe. Come here to level up your grappling!

I trained in wrestling with Coach Jerry for 2 years, and he’s one of the best coaches I’ve ever had. He really focused on fundamentals and tailored each class to our level, gradually making things more challenging as we progressed. He’s patient, knowledgeable, and has a unique ability to connect wrestling techniques to BJJ, which helped my game a lot. Some of my best training memories are from his classes. Any student who gets the chance to learn from Jerry will be very lucky!

I trained under Jerry at Rio Combat (Alameda, CA). He’s a fantastic coach with not only good technique but the ability to articulate it to the even lower level students. He has a lengthy list of experience in both wrestling and jiujitsu, and by training with him, you will get a far more well-rounded experience than from most other other jiujitsu schools.
