reviewsWhat Members Say
Members rave about the club's beautiful, massive facility with Olympic-class swimming pools, well-maintained gyms, and extensive amenities like squash courts, climbing walls, and luxurious locker rooms. They praise the involved coaching, particularly in squash, and the lively, friendly atmosphere at dining venues like the rooftop bistro and sports bar. Some note concerns about inconsistent service during conferences and the advanced difficulty of climbing areas for non-team members, while one critical review alleges the club focuses more on membership sales than service quality. Overall, reviewers describe it as a premier athletic and social club with stunning views and comprehensive offerings.

I had the opportunity to visit the Multnomah Athletic Club on a recent visit to Portland. It’s a reciprocal club to The Pacific Club in Honolulu, Oʻahu. Wow what a beautiful facility with so much to do there. While we didn’t have a chance to use the athletic facilities, we did enjoy a wonderful time at their rooftop Bistro before we headed to the Foo Fighters concert. Great food, drinks, very lively atmosphere and friendly service. It was a great experience all around and I can’t wait to visit again on my next trip. 🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼

I grew up going there daily! Best Athletic, Family and Social Club! No one beats it! It’s the Best, Best, Best! Fantastic Swim Team and Swim Department! I grew up learning how to swim there and was instructed by Olympians. I swam on the swim team there for years! The swimming pools there are Olympic and World Class!

Gym was clean, new, all around well equipped large space. Strengthening and cardio rooms available. Spin room has a great view that looks over the stadium. Men’s and women’s change/locker rooms each provided easy to use day lockers, lounge rooms, steam, sauna and hot tubs. The toiletries were a bit bare with no skincare products. No shavers provided but had blow dryers, qtips, shampoo, conditioners and soap. Full towel service! Loved the squash space (very involved coach), beautiful racquet and tennis courts. Not many indoor tennis courts but all equipment provided. Didn’t get to try the batting cage or indoor driving range but all equipment needed is provided. The 3x gyms were absolutely beautiful and well maintained with polished floors and many basketballs all provided. Pickleball program is also strong. Limited pro shop. Climbing: Auto belays are only for the club team, the rope climbs require a partner that can belay and the bouldering wall is made for the club team and thus very challenging for the normal climber. Reading room/lounge on the first floor is absolutely stunning. Quiet but allowed phone calls and online meetings with headphones. Stunning because it overlooks the stadium and has a dedicated seating area for club members. Cafe is small and no windows. Does the job. Healthy food and drinks. Sports bar is well themed and very chic. I would totally study out of there too if I want ambiance. Fine dining wasn’t open so didn’t get to try that. Only got to play squash, boulder and took advantage of the sauna and locker room. Lots of other amenities I would have loved to try but no time. Will definitely be back! I was told it was the largest club in the country with 66,000 sq ft and 22,000 members averaging about 2000 members accessing the club per week. Free parking is also a perk for members or reciprocal club members! Disclaimer: I am a reciprocal member from Vancouver, Canada!

Beautiful "clubhouse" with a great view of Providence Park and the playing field from MAC's "living room". I've been to many classes and luncheons at MAC. The food is delicious. While they are efficient, the wait staff serving conferences never seems very happy or friendly. This is a very upscale place, normally for members only. Nice, but spendy gift shop inside too.

This isn't even a gotcha, just the last two days I was there. This place is coasting on a reputation it no longer deserves. Parking, service, equipment. It's all hit and miss: they only care about selling new memberships and collecting dues. They lied about their membership included and you can find -pick a service- offered elsewhere better value for money anywhere else from catering to events to personal training and massage. It's all built on a framework of "we hope you're too new money, and therefore afraid, to notice "
