Peninsula Park Community Center is more than just a building—it is a hub where children learn, neighbors connect, and families find support. Losing this center would mean eliminating afterschool programs, including Peninsula Wrestling Club. It would strip away a safe space for gatherings, events, and enrichment activities that strengthen our community. The Peninsula Wrestling Club (PWC) is more than just a wrestling program—it is a cornerstone of youth development in Portland. Since 1971, PWC has provided thousands of young people, regardless of race or economic background, with a safe and supportive environment to grow physically, mentally, and emotionally. Through world-class coaching and a commitment to personal development, PWC instills self-discipline, leadership, and resilience in its athletes—qualities that extend far beyond the mat. In a time when many youth face uncertainty and lack positive role models, PWC teaches them to see the hero within themselves. The club’s affordability and scholarship opportunities ensure that no child is turned away, making it an invaluable resource for underprivileged families. Furthermore, its legacy of producing top-tier athletes, including Olympians and world champions, demonstrates its ability to nurture excellence while fostering a deep sense of community. At its core, PWC is not just about wrestling—it’s about building strong individuals, families, and a stronger Portland. Supporting PWC means investing in the future leaders of our city. PWC is a city jewel that needs to be protected. Investing in recreation centers and youth programs helps prevent crime, supports working parents, and fosters a healthier, more vibrant city. Peninsula Park Community Center preserves youth summer programs and critical resources that so many residents depend on.
