A judo dojo where a 63-year old is welcomed and feels healthier than ever after 6 months of training must be something special. MLJ has a friendly atmosphere where you can learn judo at your own pace. The instructors don't teach only techniques but also safety so you can come back for more. Join us.

Both my sons started in the youth class and progressed to the adult class through college. Safety was always a top priority at the dojo. The training was excellent from both a judo standpoint and overall physical fitness. As they got older there were opportunities for them to teach which really helped them mature. Both Tom and Joe were great mentors on and off the mat. Main Line Judo is a community that helped my kids become strong and confident and I cannot say enough great things about them.

Excellent place to learn judo! I have found MLJ a wonderful welcoming environment for all skill levels. The classes are great fun and a great workout. I've personally seen everyone get in much better shape (myself included!) the longer they attend. Judo here will challenge you physically and mentally but you will be better because of it. If you've ever wanted to do judo this is a great place to learn!

I am in my late 40s and I was tired of the usual "going to the gym" routine. I had always wanted to try a grappling martial arts but was worried about not being in the best shape of my life. I felt like I was past my prime ( Don't know if I ever had a prime, ha ha). But ever since practicing judo at MLJ (Main Line Judo), not only have I started my journey as a judoka, but I have lost a great deal of weight and feel more energy. The instructors are really good about safety and making sure no one gets hurt. Every class, I feel like I am getting better and better at my stand up and ground game. I may never go to the Olympics but this is a great place to train and learn Judo/grappling. Sensei Tom Blair and Sensei Joe Chiu are exceptional instructors with a wealth of knowledge, technique and experience. The culture is very accepting and supportive of everyone. It is a place where a novice or experienced grappler can grow in their skill level. And all the students are great to practice with. Egos are left at the door. Also, Daniel Gracie BJJ and the Traditional Okinawan Karate Institute (Ishinryu Karate) share the space. You can get a deal if you want to join two or all three of the different martial arts schools. All in all, MLJ is a great place to learn judo! Whether you want to learn Judo, self defense, lose weight or meet some new friends, this is the place to be on the Main Line!
