I am a student at this dojo. The teachers are amazingly patient and understanding of each person's abilities and skill levels. I was looking for a personal bucket list item to fill and Providence Aikikai was the perfect fit for my personal goal(s). I recommend Aikido for anyone that is looking to improve their physical conditioning and find a balanced martial art practice.

I am happy that I chose to start my martial arts journey with Providence Aikido. Since the first day of class, the instructors and students have been welcoming and patient. This really is a supportive community and there is room for everyone! You will learn throws, rolls, how to escape from someone grabbing your arms, hands or clothes, and hand grab techniques. The instructors here have decades of experience, and they are approachable and very knowledgeable in Aikido tradition. You will have the opportunity to work with David Halprin Sensei, 7th dan (7th degree black belt), who earned his rank in the Aikido World headquarters in Tokyo. I also like that we have female instructor seminars! This is a very special place, and we are fortunate to have it in Providence.

I recently moved from out of state and wanted to continue my Aikido training. It is a relief to be able to find a dojo where the quality of training and the quality of people is so high! There's a range of experience-levels in each class, creating a good balance between veterans and new students. The instructors are skillful and welcoming. As long as I'm in Providence, I'll continue to return to this dojo to study Aikido.

I am new to studying martial arts — and taking it up as an adult was quite intimidating. The team at Providence Aikido was very welcoming and patient with me. Also a bonus of learning Aikido is that Sensei David’s lessons and wisdom in the dojo seem to carry over into my everyday life! I am grateful to have found Providence Aikido - it’s a really great place to be and really terrific people to practice with too!

I practiced at Providence Aikikai for about a year before going off to college. Classes are a perfect combination of fun, educational, and relaxing. Whether you want to get into Aikido or continue practice in a new dojo, I would highly recommend.
