We LOVE Family First Martial Arts! They are truly concerned about the whole child and not just "kicking butt". They teach discipline, respect (to others and self), kindness, consideration of others, and service (to family and the outside world). It truly feels like we are part of a family. In terms of the actual instruction, we are pleased that there is an intentional curriculum in place and not just random skills taught (as in other dojos we have seen). I love the skills my son has learned and continues to learn (though I pray he never needs to use them). That said, "It is better to be a warrior in a garden than a gardener in a war." I am so pleased with Family First Martial Arts that my son will not be allowed to stop attending until he graduates high school and leaves for college!!!!

Family First has been a steady influence on my child's physical, mental and spiritual development over the last 7 years. The coaches are caring and fantastic as teachers and people.

I was new to Franklin last year and looking for a place for my 8 year old to do martial arts. Fortunately, a mom at school recommended this place for me and I quickly signed him up for a trial lesson and didn't know what to expect. My kid was very shy and introverted but the caring and humor of the coached helped him felt welcome, included and quickly came out of his shell after just a few classes. The coaches, especially coach Richard are very kind and know all the kids personally. When my son struggled socially at his new school, I came to ask coach Richard for help and he coached my son how to handle the issue. Now after a year, he is still happy every time he comes to training and has made new friends there as well. And I can also see his confidence is boosted quite a lot. We are truly grateful for this place and all the staff.

We have been here for a month now and cannot say enough good things about this place. Shihan and his staff are so great with the kids. Not only are they learning martial arts but self discipline. Richard gives the kids lots of pearls of wisdom. He is so encouraging. My son was worried about being the new kid but everyone has been so welcoming and really build each other up. I am so happy we found this place !

I really can't say enough positive about this place! The skills being taught are boosting my son's confidence tremendously! He is learning physical discipline as well as respect for others. Sensei Richard cares about these students and it is evident from day one. My son looks forward to going every week.
