Gym 5

About

Gym 5 offers training in MMA and boxing within an old-school training atmosphere that members consistently praise. The gym features a diverse range of equipment suitable for various training modalities including bodybuilding, strongman, powerlifting, and cardio, with unique pieces like a loaded standing chest press machine. A standout feature is the outdoor workout space, which includes large garage doors that can be opened to create an open-air gym experience when weather permits, adding to the facility's distinctive character.

Members describe a welcoming environment where staff are super friendly and helpful, and fellow gym-goers are also very friendly, contributing to a community where many have made gym friends. The layout receives positive remarks, and while equipment is noted as older and sometimes rusty, it is functional and considered good value for the $55 monthly membership. However, some reviews mention cleanliness concerns, including a persistent sewage smell in one section of the gym that could pose health risks, and note that the outdoor space could use better maintenance. Overall, the gym cultivates a vibe that feels like a genuine spot for dedicated training.

This gym is particularly noted as a perfect spot for group training sessions, with fitness business owners among those who appreciate its setup. The combination of solid equipment, unique amenities like the outdoor area, and a strong community atmosphere makes it a recommended destination for those seeking authentic martial arts and fitness training in Nashville.

The perfect spot for our Sunday training session. Gym 5 checked all the boxes we need to get a good training working with a group of fitness business owners. Thank you for the hospitality!

My favorite gym I’ve ever been a member of, and I’ve been a member of a lot. Staff is super friendly, love the outdoor space, when it’s nice enough out they open their huge garage doors and it’s an open air gym at that point, wonderful. Equipment is not new, but it all works. Layout is great. Over all vibe, it just feels like a spot! And I love that. Staff is super friendly and helpful. Other gym goers are also very friendly, never had a problem, made a lot of gym friends.

Awesome gym equipped with everything anyone would need regardless of training modality (bodybuilding, strongman, powerlifting, cardio, etc.). Staff is friendly. Crowd is welcoming. Will return anytime we're in the area. Highly recommend.

Google Review for Gym 5: ***My biggest concern is the persistent sewage smell in the back section of the gym, likely due to plumbing issues. It’s not only unpleasant and but could pose health risks and safety concern. I noticed I would get a headache if I’m in that area too long. I hope owner of the gym addresses this problem soon.*** I’ve been going to Gym 5 for almost a year. It’s a solid old-school gym with older, rusty equipment, which is fine for the $55/month membership. The outdoor workout space is a cool feature but could use some cleaning up. The cleanliness overall seems to be an issue, possibly because the big windows are occasionally open.
