Excellent, independently owned Jiu Jitsu academy in Mount Juliet. The head coach let me train here a few weeks while my main gym was temporarily closed. Fast forward a couple years, and my main gym has permanently closed, so it was an easy choice to sign up at Ivy. It’s a huge, clean space, and the athletes training there are friendly and supportive (and tough). The Jiu Jitsu is high quality. You should be able to roll with the head coach (and other coaches) without worrying you’re going to get hurt, and that’s the way it is here. 5 stars.

We moved to Nashville a few months ago and were looking for a gym to get my son (7) and myself involved in. We toured gyms around the hermitage-MJ area and this was the best one for what we were looking for. It’s hands down the best environment for kids. Coach Kevin understands how to communicate with kids in different age groups. He mixes technique with fun games that support the lessons they are teaching the students. As a 10 year elementary physical education teacher, I’m impressed with the structure of the kids program and my son loves coming to class. The adult program is also very inviting. No one is trying to kill each other. There is a good mix of training with similar belts and veteran belts so that you are getting an full experience. Very respectful environment amongst the adults. First gym I’ve been to where I find myself having conversations each time I’m in the gym, not just glaring at each other with the casual “hey”. The schedule is also great for my family. The adult class follows the kids class which allows my son and I to be there together. They also have a variety of lunch and weekend classes as well. Highly recommend for beginners and kids!

Skeptical at first, but has been one of the best gyms I've trained at. I tried multiple before this one and none really worked out, vibes are amazing, tons of different belts to roll with and classes are great. They have both morning, noon and afternoon classes which worked with my schedule as I travel often. Will miss them so much after being a part of the community for two years :)

This gym is an awesome place to train in Jiu-Jitsu. The teaching that my son receives is top notch. He enjoys his classes with Coach Kevin. He has made lots of friends. It really feels like a family here.

Update Nov 4th, 2025: Still here. Name changed since I started, but same good times. Not for everyone but if it's your vibe, great place to train. Update Sept 23, 2024: Hooked. Great people and great learning. Update May 20th, 2024: still here. Still getting bruises, still learning, and still loving it. Highly recommend. Original: Just started. Makes be feel alive again; like a kid wrestling with brothers. The environment is full of sharing knowledge, sharing experience, respect, and personal growth. I'll update in a few months but I plan to be here a while.
