Before I started training, I tried a few free trials at different places. And I had come to terms with the fact that BJJ was just not for me. But I had already scheduled a free trial class at TBJJAM, so I decided to try this last place. Everyone was welcoming, kind, and incredibly helpful. Coach Earl has a way of explaining the intricacies of techniques, and WHY you should do them this way that resonates with people’s minds in a different way. I’ve achieved and surpassed physical fitness goals that I had set for myself, and my daily life has improved immeasurably from the lessons I’ve learned here. From staying calm in tense situations, to doing the difficult thing because I know it’s the right thing to do. I cannot begin to describe the impact training here has had on my life outside of the gym. I’ve made friends with teammates that I believe I’ll have for a lifetime, and truly the highlight of my day is getting to class. From someone who believed Jiu Jitsu wasn’t for them, take it from me: Tennessee Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Academy Murfreesboro is the place to try! I hope to see you in here soon!

I transferred here having some training (blue belt) and the staff and coaches were really welcoming. The schedule was very flexible and allowed for trainings at different times of the day, and worth the monthly price. The staff is very friendly and helpful with coaching, allowing students to ask questions about the drills and moves, and answering them for the students so they can learn. The training environment is very friendly and welcoming, with the other practitioners being helpful and wanting the best for their teammates, new and old. The jiu jitsu classes also change what the focus is every month, allowing training in all different areas of jiu jitsu to improve the students game. The Muay Thai class is also engaging, allowing different training techniques and an engaging class, with the coach walking around helping students of all levels. The gym is clean, the equipment is well maintained, and the staff is willing answer any questions you have and even have equipment for purchase for the classes offered, but you are not required to buy their stuff to train there. Overall, the coaches are well trained and experienced, very helpful, and the status of the gym is clean and well kept. If you are looking for a great place to train where you will be valued and have a good time while learning a new skill and getting in a workout, this is the place to be!

On the recommendation of a friend within the local BJJ community, I gave Coach Earl and this gym a try. That was in 2017 and I've been regular ever since. The learning environment has evolved over the years as well as being responsive to troubleshooting at the individual level to give the best odds for development & advancement (you still have to put in the work, though). Reach out to them for a trial class.

I dropped in for a class at Tennessee BJJ Academy Murfreesboro a couple of months ago, and it was an excellent experience. The staff was extremely welcoming from the moment I arrived, and the facility was clean, spacious, and well-maintained. Their approach was different from the gym I normally train at—the use of games to introduce and integrate new skills was a refreshing and effective change. The coaches were very helpful and made sure I understood everything we were working on, and the students I partnered with were incredibly friendly. Next time I’m in Murfreesboro, I’ll definitely be back for more training with these great people!

I’ve always wanted to try Muai Thai so like others, I did the free trail just out of curiosity. Not going to lie, I’m out of shape, ashamed of it, was nervous to show up. The hardest thing I’ve done was walking through that door. Coach Earl and Tierra were both VERY welcoming and supportive. I kept getting frustrated that I was messing up (something that I thought should be easy) but coach Earl was super supportive, didn’t make me feel bad, and gave some great advice and helped me improve. If you’re looking for a welcoming place, no matter what stage you’re at. Tennessee BJJ academy is your place. I’m a few lessons in and I’m hooked. Coach Earl
