I cannot stress how awesome Master Nelson and his crew are. His enthusiasm to see his students grow is amazing. He is encouraging the same way through kids to adult classes. He instills confidence, patience and character building in each individual. He shows you what you do wrong but also in turn encourages to strive to do better. My son is 13 and has been attending consistently for 2 months and have seen him grow as a young man in a difficult world. If you are thinking of attending take him up on the one hour “one and one” and you will see the difference. Thank you Master Nelson!!

My son is 7 years old has been attending AKC since he was 5 and thanks to Master Nathaniel and his wonderful coaches, my son continues to develop his understanding of respect, hard work and discipline. Master Nathaniel imparts his passion for Karate at every single class in a fun way, and students of all ages hold him in high regard, it's a wonderful thing to see. We love AKC.

There are really are no words to fully encapsulate what this dojo and Master Nelson means to me and my family. We started with him around 4 years ago and our time has been marked with intense growth and self discovery. Struggling with a life long knee injury and pain, I thought my ascent in Karate would be limited due to this physical issue. Working with Nelson helped cultivate the truth that the only thing that can be limited is your mind, your thinking, and the way you perceive and interact the the energies that make up this physical form and the universe in which we reside. We create and manifest our reality based on our beliefs, and true karate is the perfect mechanism to help you gain control over these energies and direct them in a positive and empowering way. I have become a better man, father, husband and human since beginning my studies at Austin Karate Center and I continue to grow each class. Master Nelson is truly deserving of the title, "master," he directs each class in strong but heart-centered way, encouraging students both young and old to access their greatest self and to bring it forth in every moment and action they take. My oldest son (8) has been training with me since the beginning, and I have noticed a marked difference in his discipline, propensity for leadership and enthusiasm for life in general as he continues his ascent in karate. My youngest son (5) recently joined classes and just earned his gold belt, making this a family affair. Austin Karate Center isn't just a place we go, it is a space that lives in us, representing an ethos that we carry with us in every action we take and everything we do. I figured when I signed up to take Karate that I'd just learn how to defend myself but after a year I've received so much more than that that I didn't expect. After being a successful business owner for over 10 years, I'm learning new levels of confidence that I didn't know was missing. I'm more disciplined and I really feel apart of a team (family). I love what Master Nathaniel has created here. Fun, and challenging workouts that serve a purpose and sliding in life skills and lessons throughout. I am an energy worker and with what I'm learning here, it's unlocking new levels of connection to energy and to my own body. As for family, there are literally multiple families with fathers, mothers with their sons and daughters in the classe. It's amazing to witness how they are growing together and to be apart of. The instructors are exceptionally knowledgeable, patient, and genuinely dedicated to their students' progress. Special mention to Sensei Nelson Nathaniel, who has been training regularly for over 8 years in both Okinawa Goju Ryu and JKF Goju Kai.
