reviewsWhat Members Say

Several reviewers report positive experiences with the boxing matches and venue quality. However, multiple reviews describe unprofessional staff behavior, including dismissive attitudes toward homeless individuals, people with speech impediments, and women wearing faith-based coverings. Specific complaints include staff laughing at a person with a speech impediment, the owner appearing disinterested in non-paying visitors, and poor communication about programs and schedules.

The best decision was to have met coach Willie Moses. I have worked with the short time but my improvement is very remarkable

Great venue but the air conditioner wasn't up to par. I realize it's a gym but it was really hot. Great boxing matches though.

VERY VERY UNPROFESSIONAL NON- ATTENTIVE MOST RUDE MOST DISRESPECTFUL The man I spoke with didn’t take time to fully expression explain to where I understood him properly. I have a speech impediment and they laughed in my face! Shame on humanity. PURE IGNORANCE!

Well Prince is supposed to be giving out a Christmas gift, so tell me why he never comes down Semmes St to see how many children live right here in Fifth Ward. He's not for Fifth Ward he's all about social media. My grandchildren and I live dead smack in the middle and fifth Ward never got nothing from him. It's only for the people in his circle.

I Came Here To Get Help & Information. I Made The Mistake Of Coming Around 9:20AM As The Gym Shows Opening At 9AM. No One Was Around Except Someone Running The Track & He Did Not Want To Tell Me Where The Main Building Was. I Was Walking To The Bus Stop To Leave When An SUV Pulled Up After 9:30AM. I Decided To Return To Get The Help I Was Seeking, But I Should Have Took The Events That Already Occurred As A Sign. The Guy Who I Assume Is The Owner Seemed Very Disinterested In Speaking With Me. I Asked Him If He Had A Program That Could Help A Homeless Person. I Am Looking For A Trainer, But Extentuating Circumstances Exist. I Also Wear Faith Based Converings. He Clearly Only Wanted To Speak To A Person Who Would Be Making A Payment. I Left But Forgot Another Question So I Returned To Ask About Prize Fighting Independently. When I Returned He Had Disappeared. I Signaled To Him In A Room That I Had Returned & He Took A While. When He Was Coming Through The Door He Was Mumbling Something Under His Breath... Very Childish. After Asking Him About The Independent Fighting He Tole Me I Was Not A Professional Fighter, As If I Was Confused About My Status As An Individual & Told Me To Go To USABoxing.com. I Realized Afterward That Was Not The Information I Was Looking For... However, I Am Still Grateful. As A Woman There Is Already Prejudice, Add On My Personal Representations & The Prejudices Keep Piling On. I Felt The Weight Of These Here. I Also See That The Gatekeeping Is A Strong Culture That Lives In Houston As A Whole, Especially Within The Negro Community. Clearly Boxing Without A Trainer Is Not My First Choice, But No One Is Willing To Hold Their Hand Out Without A Check, Then They Insult You When That Does Not Happen & Try To Demean Your Intelligence, Purpose & Alignment. I Do What Must Be Done & I Don't Like Being Insulted. I Am A Queen.
