About
Championship Martial Arts offers MMA and karate training in a structured environment that emphasizes personal growth alongside martial arts skills. The gym provides a welcoming atmosphere where coaches take time to know each student personally, creating a supportive community for all ages. Similar to other extracurricular activities, there are additional costs for belt promotions, equipment, and tournaments, though these are noted to be competitively priced compared to other sports programs.
reviewsWhat Members Say
Members praise the gym for dramatically boosting children's confidence, focus, and school performance, with many noting it becomes their child's favorite activity. Coaches, especially owner Jeff, are highlighted for their caring approach, personal attention, and role-modeling of values like discipline and respect. Some reviewers caution that costs can add up beyond the base tuition due to testing fees, equipment, and program upgrades, advising transparency in financial expectations. Overall, the training is described as transformative for personal growth, though a few express concerns about the transactional feel of advancement requirements.

I can’t say enough great things about CMA, West Jordan! My son started just a few weeks into Kindergarten and we immediately noticed his confidence and focus increase- both which he hadn’t developed yet. It was the first time that we have ever seen him passionate about something other than a toy and his karate days are now his favorite days of the week. The coaches are the best and my 5 year old truly feels at home at CMA!

My son was not doing well in school until he started and they teach them engage and focus on the current task. At his last parent teacher conference his teacher said how much he has improved within the classroom. His confidence has also grown, thank you to all the coaches who teach and to repeat not to practice!! I'm so glad you came to the school.

I have been so impressed with this studio and the impact it has had on my daughter's life for more than ten years. She has gained confidence, focus, and self-control, which have truly served her in all areas of her life. The owner has truly instilled amazing values in my daughter’s life, and is an incredible role model. I so appreciate the example he is for those enrolled in his programs. As an elementary teacher, I also notice and appreciate the tie-in with home and school. I can definitely see a difference in the focus and respect of my students who take classes from Jeff and his instructors. I’m so grateful this is such a big part of my daughter’s life. Thank you VERY much!!

Having worked with the owner, the program director and the instructors for over 2 years, I would wholly recommend training with CMA West Jordan. Their main focus is teaching their students discipline, respect, determination and leadership. They learn these through the scenarios presented while they train and become outstanding martial artists. You pay a monthly membership fee, like any gym. You can upgrade your membership at any time (like a gym) to get additional, higher level training. You can upgrade further to gain access to the weapons and sparring courses. You don't have to any of the upgrades at all though, even to get to black belt. Similar to any other extracurricular activity, there are added costs, such as belt promotions, equipment fees, and tournament fees. These extra fees are no different than dance, football, soccer, ski, swim or other activities, however at CMA they cost significantly less. Each coach cares and gets to know their students. They put in a lot of extra time to make this a place where students set goals and succeed. Your student will learn more about themselves, personal growth, doing hard things and self motivation here than anywhere else.

I would strongly advise anyone considering this karate school to ask for a complete written breakdown of all costs before enrolling. The advertised monthly tuition is only the starting point. Advancement requires additional paid testing fees, “club” memberships, and extra programs that are introduced regularly. These are not optional if you want to progress. Over time, the actual cost becomes significantly higher than what is initially presented. During my time here, new rules and paid requirements were added frequently. Advancement criteria and program structures seemed to change without clear explanation. The financial expectations were not transparent at enrollment, and it often felt like progress depended more on paying additional fees than on skill development. A martial arts school should prioritize training, discipline, and student growth. Instead, this place operates with a constant stream of add-ons and paid milestones that make the experience feel transactional rather than merit-based. If you’re considering signing up, request a full written list of all required fees for advancement, including testing, memberships, equipment, and special programs. Do not rely solely on the base tuition number.
