This time business took me to the beautiful Salt Lake City. Wanting to keep up my training, I reached out to John McKean via the Combat Art’s Instagram and he welcomed me graciously. I had a fantastic time under the tutelage of John. He and I had a great conversation about BJJ culture and the importance of being a good host when you have drop-in visitors and being a gracious visitor. The class was informative and packed with a whole range of skill level. Facilities are clean and a shower is available.

Professor McKean was kind enough to let me drop in for open mat on a Saturday when I was in town. The gym is very welcoming and friendly to visitors and the location / pedagogy here is great. My favorite thing about visiting gym is finding holes in my game and learning things to take back to my home gym. Plus I got absolutely ragdolled by a kid half my age and at least eighty pounds less than me, which always humbles me and keeps me from getting complacent. Thank you, Professor McKean!

One of the best gyms I've been to. While I was visiting town, I dropped in for a class. John treated me like I was a lifelong student of his. The culture of his gym is unmatched as is it one of the most welcoming and friendliest gyms I've been to.

I can't recommend this school highly enough. I was in SLC for a night and dropped in. Professor John was immediately welcoming, as were his students. The fundamentals class was a great pace for anyone interested in trying out jiu jitsu, and the competition class had students of all experience levels who are happy to meet you at your level and push you to be your best. Overall Professor John has built a great culture and really cares about his students' progress. Definitely check out CAS&C if you're a local or just passing through. Thanks again, Coach!
