The teachers are great martial artists, and also just good people to be around. If you're looking for a well rounded dojo that not only teaches technique but also the purpose of martial arts, this is the place to go.

Kishindo gives great one on one instruction. They're all about your ability to defend yourself. Their free women's safety class is excellent, and they'll even travel to give free demonstrations for women's groups. They never try to sell you overpriced stuff you don't need, in fact they just gave me new practice weapons when I reached a high enough level to use them. Kent, the Sensei, says he teaches because he loves it so he charges just enough to "keep the lights on and keep you invested." This karate instruction leaves you feeling like you scaled a mountain to apprentice with a wise guru, minus the hike.
