Wasatch Martial Arts has been an incredible opportunity for me. I was staying in Utah for a year, and wanted a place to continue my training. I had been training in Tang Soo Do for almost 11 years, and chose Wasatch Martial Arts Academy to keep practicing martial arts. Despite being from another state and being trained in another style, I was openly welcomed by everyone at this school. My experience here has been amazingly helpful and allowed me to gain insight and learn new principles to apply to my techniques. The combination of instruction focusing on the science, philosophy, and mechanics of each technique allows for motion that is effective, efficient, and meaningful. One of my favorite things about the classes is how much focus is put into the principles of the movements, rather than pure memorization. What is taught can be applied to any form, self-defense technique, or basic action. (This was particularly helpful because I plan to return to Tang Soo Do when I leave Utah.) Master Corrales flawlessly blends praise and correction, instructing the class both as a whole and helping individual students. He balances encouragement with discipline and adapts to each student’s needs. He has endless experience and wisdom to offer, not just in the practical application of martial arts, but also in life in general. I cannot express my appreciation to him. Overall, I would highly recommend Wastach Martial Arts.

Our son recently started the Intro class at Wasatch Martial Arts in Soo Bahk Do. Initially, I had some reservations in signing up as I pictured Sensei Kreese from the 1984 Karate Kid yelling at a group of young children and teaching them the ethics of "sweep the leg". But after learning that we know several other families that have been part of the program for some time we signed up. I'm pleasantly surprised that Pace Jo Kyo is not only kind and respectful to the children, she also instills the same in their behavior. Our son looks forward to class and I expect we will be a part of this program for years to come. I highly recommend this program for anyone interested in learning more about martial arts.
