Great vibe at Brabo. Mats are grippy (which I appreciate), everything’s clean, and the crew on the mat is friendly but tough. Went to Alex’s seminar couple years ago, very knowledgeable instructor. I knew him back when I was just starting out as white belt (good old “us grappling” times). Solid gym with real competitors.

Brabo Academy has been an amazing place for my 6‑year‑old son to start his Jiu Jitsu journey, and it absolutely deserves 5 stars. The coaches are patient, encouraging, and great with young kids, balancing discipline with fun so he is excited to come to every class. The environment is clean, safe, and family‑friendly, and in just a short time we have already seen his confidence, focus, and coordination improve. For any parent in the Virginia Beach area looking for a high‑quality Jiu Jitsu program for a young child, Brabo Academy is highly recommended.

I wish I could do more than five stars. Brabo academy is a positive environment & is a great place to learn & practice brazilian jujitsu . Professor Alex is a great teacher & really explains the technique and the coaches & the teammates /training partners are very friendly , supportive & welcoming . If you are looking for a place to learn Brazilian Ju Jitsu, in a safe and welcoming environment, choose Brabo. The Academy offers classes throughout the day and week for hobbyists to competitors, and also has kids classes. I have been training at Brabo for almost 12 months, and have learned more than just some basic skills. It is a very welcoming place to train, within a house of Champions. Brabo Academy is a First Class institution!

Professor Alex is an excellent coach, passionate about training and setting a high bar for his students. Our daughter Nailah aka Cuddlebug had the privilege of cross training there in both the kids and adult classes. We highly recommend if you have children his jiu jitsu program.
