When I moved to the area with my family I was looking for a new gym to train for both myself and my kids. We were invited to BJJ Olympia and were amazed by the culture at day one. Professor Robert does an outstanding job at pushing the kids in focus and discipline while maintaining a fun atmosphere. For myself, I love that the gym is not macho and cutthroat. There is a genuine humility from the top down which sets the tone on how people train and push one another. Everyone helps each other by being good training partners, offering feedback, and help. I also appreciate that every higher belt is always offering their insights at open mats. There is no "elitist mentality" here. Only a devoted group of people who want to make each other better and themselves in their jiujitsu journey.

BJJ - what an incredible community! My son has incredible role models to look up to and peers to challenge and support him. I’m so thrilled there is a gym like this that exists. My son is learning integrity, discipline and respect through movement and leaders who set the example.

This gym has become my key to self-preservation. Jiu-jitsu helps me release worries and self-doubt by connecting mind and body. Referred by a friend, I had no prior experience beyond kickboxing 10 yrs prior but was warmly welcomed, especially by Laurie’s group at first. As I progressed in the women, fundamentals, and competition classes, skills clicked, and I even competed for the first time through here. Not to win but to grow. My 3.5-year-old son attends Mini Monsters, where all the coaches and community foster a supportive, accountable, family-like environment. They all pitch in—because everyone benefits. The focus is on growth and community over winning, making this gym a true sanctuary.

Moved from across town and thought I would hop around gyms to find one that was fitting. This was the first place I tried and I didn't want to leave. The atmosphere and the people make this gym a great place to train at. If I have had a good day, my evening training makes it great. And if I have had a bad day, my evening training still makes it great. I look forward to seeing all of my buddies everytime I come into the gym. Would recommend this gym for anyone who is serious about finding a community of hard working, driven, and passionate people.

Professor Robert, Shane and the training staff here are incredible. Whether you are learning BJJ or striking, or you are an amateur to veteran, you will be hard pressed to find a culture and society as affectual in teaching and investing in you. I have been attending classes and open mats for a month and could not be happier. I drive to and from with a smile on my face multiple times a week, 40 minutes each leg from Lakewood. What I enjoy most is the friendly family environment BJJ OLY provide, my 17, 8 and 5 year old classes and open mat, under an extremely reasonable monthly family rate.
