Elite Martial Arts & Family Success Center
About
This Seattle martial arts facility offers MMA and karate training in a family-oriented environment. The gym provides structured classes for all ages, including programs for children as young as three years old. Instructors are noted for their ability to balance discipline with creativity, creating an engaging atmosphere where students can develop both martial arts skills and life lessons. The center emphasizes a supportive approach, with staff described as responsive and invested in each student's progress. Members appreciate the positive environment that helps build confidence while teaching valuable everyday skills alongside physical techniques. The gym operates with a 12-month contract model, which some former members have reported as challenging when attempting to cancel early. While most reviews highlight exceptional instruction and a welcoming atmosphere, potential members should carefully review contractual terms before enrollment. The facility maintains a focus on comprehensive martial arts education, with many families reporting long-term satisfaction with both the training quality and character development aspects of the program. Visitors from out of town consistently praise the inspiring atmosphere and top-tier teaching they experience during their sessions. The gym's ability to adapt to individual student needs, including offering one-on-one sessions when appropriate, demonstrates their commitment to personalized martial arts education. Parents particularly value how the program enhances children's listening skills and ability to follow directions while making the learning process enjoyable. The combination of technical martial arts training with life skill development creates a holistic approach that resonates with many families seeking more than just physical exercise for their children.
reviewsWhat Members Say
Members consistently praise the exceptional instructors, describing them as knowledgeable, passionate, and genuinely invested in every student's progress. Many parents highlight how the gym helps children develop discipline, confidence, and valuable life skills while making martial arts enjoyable and engaging. Several reviews specifically mention Camille's effective teaching approach and the staff's responsiveness to concerns. However, one significant concern involves the 12-month contract and cancellation process, with a former member reporting aggressive collection practices and legal action when attempting to leave early. Some parents note the positive, supportive environment that balances structure with creativity, though one review suggests the training intensity may be less demanding than traditional martial arts schools.

My daughter has a ton of energy and I was looking for a place where she could practice discipline, develop new skills and have fun. This is one of the few places I came across that accepts 3 year-olds so I was thrilled to give it a try. The first 2 trial classes did not go as expected. My daughter was timid and didn't want to stay on the mat for the entire 30 minutes. However, Camille suggested trying a 1:1 class and that made all the difference! She has been all in since July and have not missed a single class. The classes are twice a week but my daughter would attend 5 days if that was an option. I appreciate the center's ability to balance structure and creativity. The staff has always been responsive and addressed any concerns I've had. It may not be for everyone but I would highly recommend to give it a try!

We enrolled our child here and later tried to cancel. EMA uses a 12-month contract and, when you leave early, they demand you pay the entire remaining balance and will take you to small claims court to try to collect. We cancelled exactly the way their contract requires: by certified mail to their Kirkland address. USPS tracking shows it was delivered. They later claimed they never got it, demanded extra proof, then asserted (contrary to USPS’s own tracking) that the post office had confirmed a delivery problem, and still sued us for about $1,500. And when we show up on the court date we find out they filed for a continuance four days before without informing us. Next appearance is in six months. This is weaponized process. Under Washington’s health-studio law (RCW 19.142), martial arts schools count as health studios. Once you cancel in writing, you’re entitled to a refund of any unused prepaid dues and are relieved from any obligation to pay dues for months after the cancellation date (RCW 19.142.050). Any contract that doesn’t comply with that chapter is void and unenforceable as contrary to public policy (RCW 19.142.090). The contract also includes a non-disparagement clause which is illegal and unenforceable. Which is why I can post this review. If you’re considering signing their 12-month paperwork, read RCW 19.142 first and understand you may be pressured to pay for months of classes you will never use. In my opinion the business practices around the contract and collections are predatory, regardless of how your child feels about the classes themselves. For what it’s worth, we later enrolled our son in a more traditional martial-arts school closer to home. He told us: “At the new school you really have to work hard and sometimes I just want to play. The old school was easy. You didn’t have to know anything.” Ouch. If I heard that as an instructor, I think I would hang up my belt and reconsider my life choices.
