I went in for an open mat they had on the schedule. The expectation was for a low turnout but everyone was pleasantly surprised by 7 people showing up at a noon time, including 4 white belts. Was a good warm up followed by move drill requests followed by proper open mat. The upper belts had a lot of wisdom to share. I will be returning to this place in the future!

I don’t even know where to start. Jiu-Jitsu is such a unique brother hood. As one of the cornerstones of MMA it requires sparring. Sparring is unique especially when you get to do it with people whom you have never met (and not in a competition setting). James’s place didn’t disappoint. The rolls I had there were nothing short of awesome. It’s also super unique that an accomplished athlete such as James to even roll with drop in athletes!!! In the short hour and a half that I was there I felt like I found a family for myself on the southern Seattle seaboard!

Just wanted to give a big shout-out to Foster BJJ! I’m away on a business trip and always try to fit in training at local gyms when I can. Foster BJJ was close to my hotel, and with high Google ratings, choosing them was easy. I attended one of their No-Gi classes last night and had a fantastic time! Prof. Foster was great to communicate with (I did via text)—very responsive and incredibly welcoming from the start. Coach Khiem taught the No-Gi class and was knowledgeable, friendly, and polite. He covered leg-lock entries and finishes (which are some of my favorites 😁). I had a great drilling partner with Jamie and fun, competitive rolls with several of their teammates. Solid instruction, a clean and spacious facility, and an overall welcoming atmosphere. It was a great experience, and I’d absolutely love to drop in again in the future! If you’re in the Kent, WA area, definitely give Foster BJJ a visit. Highly recommend!

Can't recommend Foster jiujitsu enough! I was traveling through Seattle on a trip from Canada, Professor Foster and his team welcomed me in with open arms. I had a great time and great rolls, training for a morning with his team. Professor Foster, is a very kind person and a fantastic teacher, if you're thinking about going to get some training or join with him, do it! Fantastic gym!

Amazing people, amazing classes, and just a great place whether you're looking for something fun or something for your health both physically and mentally. I've been a student and friend of foster both the man and his amazing school for about 15 years now and have seen all kinds of amazing people come and go over the years and have never had a bad experience. The whole school is devoted to making everyone of any age feel safe and encouraged while pushing you to meet your individual goals. I truly can't say enough good things about this place or its members it's something you have to experience to truly appreciate.
