I trained at Gracie Barra Seattle from my first day as a white belt until I moved away after three years. It is still to this day, the best school I have ever trained at. The coaches, professors, and overall atmosphere make it perfect for all levels of Jiu Jitsu. There’s room for competitive athletes all the way to relaxed hobbyists. It’s incredibly family friendly too! I will miss GB Seattle and treasure the time I got to spend with the team while I was there. Cannot recommend this school enough!

My family has been training at Gracie Barra Seattle for many years. We started with our young kids training then my husband began training again (he started jiu-jitsu elsewhere)...then after years of watching my family do it, I started. I joke that it was so that I could hang out with my family (which partly it was!) but it also was because I loved how welcoming and encouraging the culture of the gym felt. Professor Rodrigo has created a unique culture where he intentionally greets each student (by name!) and beginners and women can come and participate while also providing classes that high level competitors can get the intensity that they need. I am thankful that my kids have gotten to grow through the ranks of the kids program. Jiu-jitsu has truly changed my family's lives for the better.

Gracie Barra Seattle is the premier Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu academy in Washington and one of the top schools in the Pacific Northwest. Professor Rodrigo Lopes, a 5th-degree black belt, has created an environment that’s both incredibly welcoming for beginners and perfectly challenging for experienced practitioners and competitors. The kids’ program is excellent—well-organized, energetic, and supportive for all ages from early childhood through the teens. The facility is always spotless, the staff and students are friendly and respectful, and there’s a strong emphasis on safety and personal growth. Whether you’re just curious about Jiu-Jitsu or training to compete & win, you’ll find a home here. With so many black and brown belts on the mats, there’s always someone experienced to learn from. I’ve been training under Professor Rodrigo for about 20 years, and now my 13-year-old trains here too. It’s more than a gym—it’s a community we’re proud to be part of where some lifelong friendships have been made.

Wow! What an amazing academy! Professor Rodrigo is an incredible instructor and very detail oriented. Great, clean space, great students and overall an excellent atmosphere. I dropped in during my visit to Seattle for a conference and felt very welcomed. Honestly one of the best Gracie Barra’s I’ve visited.
