If you're like me, you think martial arts is awesome and that everyone should be learning it! Unfortunately, martial arts are often inaccessible to lots of folks, and it can be hard to find places where I feel safe training hard and sparring. Red Panda is a community-oriented gym that is welcoming to all, no matter your background or identity. Whether you are a ring-hardened fighter looking for a tough fight camp, an intermediate student looking for controlled/playful sparring and a place to refine your skillset, or an absolute brand-new beginner who has never thrown a punch, this is a place for you! All the coaches are incredibly kind and patient, and the gym takes a great approach to safety, bodily autonomy, and consent, which is often absent from striking sparring culture. I've been training with Coach Abby even before the gym moved to the new cap hill location, and she is an incredible coach with a sharp eye for student feedback, in addition to being a great person and an experienced ring fighter. If you're on the fence about swinging by, I hope this review convinces you to give it a shot! Red Panda makes sure to show people that Muay Thai is for everyone.

Red Panda? More like RAD Panda! This place is radical! If you are looking for a place to train that is trans-owned, queer-run, full of BIPOC people, AND has an incredible curriculum, look no further!

Red Panda was a BLAST. I have NEVER in my life taken a kicky/fighty sporty type class and I had so much fun. The instructors were welcoming, respectful and clear. All the equipment you need is right there. I'd recommend bringing a water bottle but they have filtered water you can re-fill with. Yes they have changing rooms and bathrooms The environment (and other classmates) were super encouraging and helpful. I especially liked that the studio is upstairs so people walking by arn't just staring at you. This is definitely an LGBTQ+ space with safe vibes.
