Nicolas is an exceptional coach. His instruction blends rock-solid fundamentals with modern BJJ, and his ability to communicate complex details is outstanding. Nicolas and Eleanor create a safe, welcoming environment that makes learning enjoyable. Bonus: This gym has hands down the cleanest facility—and bathroom—I’ve ever seen in BJJ.

I’ve been training at this gym for a 2-3 months, and I it’s been a great experience. I never had a dull class. Coach Nicolas is extremely patient and makes learning approachable, especially for beginners like me. The gym environment is friendly, welcoming and there are people of all levels to learn from, which makes classes interesting. I’ve had the chance to train in both gi and no-gi, and completed his Introduction to BJJ class. I definitely recommend this gym to anyone interested in martial arts.

We’ve had such a great experience with Coach Nicolas. He has been training one of our kids in the competition class, and we couldn’t be happier with the way he teaches. Coach Nicolas has an incredible balance of being technical and detailed, while also making the kids feel supported and motivated. He explains techniques in a way that’s easy for them to understand, and he takes the time to make sure they’re building not only skills but also confidence. If you’re looking for a gym with a positive environment and a coach who truly knows what he is doing, Synapse Jiu Jitsu and Coach Nicolas are the real deal.

Dropped into Synapse Jiu Jitsu a few times while I was in town for work, and Eleanor and Nic were so welcoming! They helped me prep for a weekend competition and I can confidently say they've created an awesome, safe & supportive BJJ community. Nic was super insightful and helped me identify a few sparring habits I need to clean up. 10/10 will be back if I'm ever in town again!

Synapse Jiu Jitsu will transform your mind, body, and soul. In my 12 years of martial arts training from adolescence to adulthood, I have never had a jiu jitsu instructor as driven and knowledgeable as Instructor Nicolas. He has a strong ability to adapt to students’ needs and a passion that engages students of all ages. He can captivate youth while instilling discipline, deliver instructions with intention, and meticulously work through any mental or physical block a student may experience. After training with him for several years, I can affirm that Instructor Nicolas never leaves anyone behind. Additionally, the gym manager, Eleanor, effortlessly establishes a connection with each student and proactively asks for feedback. I have seen her precise organizational skills in action, promptly following up on any request. She is an incredible communicator and a reliable coordinator. I expect Synapse Jiu Jitsu to operate smoothly and establish many client relationships under her supervision. Furthermore, as a woman in martial arts, it is particularly difficult to find a place in which I feel safe to practice new moves. Yet, Instructor Nicolas and Eleanor have curated an environment where everyone can train without judgment and roll without fear. I am confident this new venture will be a success. Congratulations, Nicolas and Eleanor!
