I’ve been following Wave Combat Sports and Coach Micah on Instagram for about 6-8 months and his content has always been great - with that being said I wanted to check out the gym whenever I decided to go back home to visit Seattle. I’m visiting Seattle for a week from Norfolk, VA and I dedicated a day to go to Tacoma to check out Wave. I was very impressed with the gym with how open and spacious it was. There was a centralized ring and dedicated mats for BJJ on one side and Muay Thai with heavy bags on the other. Weight lifting equipment surrounded the outside and cardio machines on the other end of the gym. Very well rounded facility for fighters, practitioners and athletes. Also, very clean! I attended the 12pm bag class, which was a quick 30-minute workout, but it was structured great with back to back rounds of concept work. Coach Micah gave me great tips on my techniques that needed work and explained it in different ways until I got it. I’ve only been training in this sport for a little over a year and a half and it was nice to get great constructive feedback. Always a work in progress. I returned to the gym for their 6:30pm fundamentals class. I felt a little intimidated training at a new gym and not knowing anyone, but Kimberly was so welcoming and helpful. She partnered with me for the class and it was a great session. Coach Micah invited me to stay for sparring afterwards, and even though I felt the intimidation yet again, he reassured me that it was going to be safe, light and technical. I had a couple rounds with him, Kimberly and other practitioners and I definitely felt comfortable sparring. It was an awesome experience to train here and I wish I was staying closer to the area to be able to train more. The atmosphere, vibe, people and the quality of the striking/Muay Thai classes were absolutely worth it. I will definitely be back again the next time I’m in town.

Micah and Bobby are both excellent coaches! They make training feel both welcoming and accessible, with a deep well of knowledge that benefits all skill levels. Their varied training sessions ensure you're always learning and never bored. I can't recommend this gym enough.

This is the very first gym I genuinely fell in love with. I found a good coach and teammates with whom I’ve trained in a warm and competitive environment. We all have different stories and lives, personal goals and with that in mind all grew together towards them when the gym first opened. If you want to learn something new and impactful and are in the Tacoma area. Join Wave Combat Sports.

I attended one trial kickboxing class at Wave Combat Sports. The location is very nice and well stocked with mats, weight racks and a fighting ring. The instructor, Micah, and the other students were very inclusive of new arrivals like myself (and provided gear to borrow) and Kimberly was very helpful in refunding my membership when I found another gym that worked better with my schedule. The memberships are a little more expensive than other gyms but still worth the price. All in all, I had a very positive experience here.

Wave combat sports IS the spot to go if you want to get better as a striker! Coach Micah Browns' program cuts out all of the unnecessary elements of training, and focuses on fundamentals/technique and builds your skill base up from there. Every class I’ve been to feels like a paid seminar worth of knowledge, and you can tell everything being taught has been methodically thought out and thoroughly structured. It has also been a blessing to be able to pick Micah’s brain during class, he’s obsessed with the sport and his understanding of striking dynamics is world class. The gym facility is huge and has all the equipment you need to train as well as a boxing ring in a central location. It is also split with a weight lifting gym called The Training Pit (if you ever want to add muscle growth or extra conditioning to your program). The gym community has been awesome; everyone is very chill, down to earth, and welcoming. While I have not tried the BJJ program, the instructor Rudy is a great guy, with a wealth of knowledge and it seems like they are all having a blast over on the Jiu Jitsu side. If you’re ever in the Tacoma area and curious about the gym, come swing by and trial a class 🌊👍
