This place is awesome! Every single instructor is there to make sure you succeed at the pace and strength you currently are. They are truly all wonderful, kind, and patient. As a woman I chose this dojo over others because of their diversity and have grown more confident, strong, and have made some good friends. I am not treated differently from others and totally respected. We celebrate every win no matter how small. There is also free 2 hour parking in their garage once you set up an account with ParkMobile, so that's a bonus!

A True Gem on Mercer Island! Our family has been part of Zen Dragon Martial Arts for years now, and it’s become so much more than just a dojo — it’s our second home. The atmosphere here is incredibly welcoming and grounded, a place where both kids and adults can train, grow, and truly unwind from the rush of everyday life. A special thank you to Chief Instructor Sensei Nikolay, who has been my son’s Sensei and mentor — his dedication, discipline, and genuine care for the students are unmatched. I also want to give a nod to Sensei Alex, whose guidance and spirit have been an important part of my journey. If you are considering enrolling your child in Martial arts on Mercer Island - Zen Dragon is the place to be. We tried other dojos in the area and chose Zen Dragon. My child loves his instructors and fellow students, he has gotten a lot stronger in the past few months since he started classes. Zen Dragon is unbeatable for kids to learn discipline, grit and to have fun!

My son started practicing karate at Zen Dragon about four years ago. I originally enrolled him because I’d heard karate could help improve attention span, something he really needed. Honestly, I was skeptical at first. We had tried several sports and music classes before, but nothing ever stuck. From the very first class at Zen Dragon, though, he was hooked. The senseis are patient, kind, and make every session fun and engaging. The studio has a sense of community, and I’ve seen a positive change in my son, not only has his attention span improved, but his confidence and discipline have grown as well.
