Best coach you could ask for. If your capable of leaving your ego at the door and coming in every week to practice and learn, this is the gym for you. He will work with anyone who is willing to put the work in. Most importantly, hes just a likable guy.

Got the chance to do some training here while I was traveling and it did not disappoint. The coach has trained and is knowledgeable in a variety of martial arts. I will be going back on my next visit to Charleston and have kept in contact with them since.

I’ve been attending Ocean Martial Arts for about a year and a half now. I’ve always been interested in self defense/martial arts. However, over the years, I have attempted to join a couple martial arts gyms, but always ended up leaving at some point. This is because they were overcrowded, leaving little room for any personal attention from the coaches and they seemed to prioritize more advanced students and competitors. I appreciate the one-on-one attention that you get with Adam and he prioritizes all students equally. He is aware of your strengths and weaknesses and is able to incorporate that into the training. He’s a very patient and knowledgeable coach as well. I also appreciate the incorporation of different mixed martial arts into the training such as muay thai and jiu jitsu and thus I feel like the teaching is very well-rounded. You may feel like you’re losing out on the camaraderie of training with other students by just doing one-on-one lessons, but that isn’t the case. Every Saturday, students come to do sparring and jiu jitsu and it’s great interacting with the other students and applying the skills you’ve learned in your lessons. In short, whether you’re a beginner or a more advanced practitioner at martial arts, I’d recommend Ocean Martial Arts. I’ve learned so much in my short time and finally found a gym that makes me feel fulfilled.
