This is a GREAT , old school boxing gym . I improved my skills greatly during my time training there . The instructors and other boxers are supportive , friendly , etc . This is an unparalleled gym if you’re looking for sparring , mitt work , drills , etc . The only reason I don’t give it 5 stars is that during my time there I was left with the conclusion that the sparring is way too intense for beginners . I watched a child just beginning get knocked down by another kid who had been boxing for many years . The instructor told the boy to get up, stop crying , and keep going . While another much more experienced boxer was showing me angles , the instructor stepped in , told him to not take it easy on me and to “beat on me till I got it”. I received 4 fractured ribs that night . I was trained extensively here , but honestly the intense rough sparring harmed me more than helped me . While in some ways it was great to learn under fire , in other ways it made me super jumpy in the ring and really only able to throw 1-2s and come in and out rather than being comfortable enough to dodge, counter, etc . Again - truly a great gym and I wish them all the best . If I could go back , I would gladly still make the decision to train there again. It’s been 5-6 years since I trained there . They’ve probably made many changes since . I just hope they take is gentler on the sparring for beginners and children.
