Both my sons love it here! The Coaches are patient, skilled, and make learning fun while teaching discipline and respect. They both have gained confidence, focus, and great skills. We also appreciate the sense of community here. The kids support each other, celebrate each other’s progress, and learn valuable life lessons! Thank you Coach Joseph and the others! I previously trained at another Gracie jiu-jitsu school. I fell in love with the sport and have wanted to not only get back on the mat for myself, but also introduce my daughter to it. I recently reached out to Joseph Montgomery at Gracie Farmington Valley to see if he would be willing to offer an introduction class for my daughter's Girl Scout troop. He jumped at the opportunity and put together an amazing class. He brought in another female instructor to help and explained the necessity to talk, and tell a "protector" before resorting to physically defending yourself. He had the girls put on gloves and shin guards and taught them the basics of punching, kicking, and takedowns. He was kind, engaging, and understanding with a raucous group of 8-9 year old girls. My family, and many of the girls who attended, will be signing up to have Gracie Farmington Valley teach our girls how to defend themselves, build self confidence, and have fun doing it.

I’ve been a member of Gracie Farmington Valley since 2012, and I can honestly say it’s one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Over the years, the school has consistently provided high-quality Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu instruction in a welcoming and supportive environment. What sets Gracie Farmington Valley apart is its sense of community. The students here are friendly, respectful, and always willing to help each other improve. Training partners quickly become friends, and stepping on the mat feels like joining a second family. After more than a decade here, I can say without hesitation that this is a top-notch BJJ school, and I’m proud to be part of it.

A great school for all levels of experience! From beginners to advanced practitioners, this school caters to everyone. It’s a welcoming community with an atmosphere that encourages helping one another improve both on and off the mats. I’ve been a part of this school for nearly 10 years, and it’s truly been an incredible journey. Everyone has their own reasons for training, and this school accommodates a wide range of goals—whether it’s fitness, competition, self-defense, or simply finding a positive outlet. The school is always open and friendly to visitors, whether you’re just passing through town or looking to cross-train. There are no politics here—just bring a smile and good intentions. This place has been a second home to me, and I highly recommend giving it a try! Whether you’re nervous about starting something new or searching for a gym to call home, the hospitality here is top-notch. Come on down—we offer both Jiu-Jitsu and Judo!

I was allowed to come visit, as a guest for vacation for the week, and absolutely loved everything about this gym. From the second I set foot in the door, I felt like one of their own, and it became very clear, very quickly, that they have a top-notch team of instructors and students. Everyone was very helpful and patient, and the amount of attention to detail allowed me to grasp the techniques being taught in a meaningful way. I took the things I learned back with me and applied them to my home gym in Florida, and had a success that I believe is truly indicative of the level of skill and teaching that occurred while visiting here. HIGHLY recommend not only martial arts as a whole, but specifically THIS location, for all levels and ages. You can’t go wrong. Huge shoutout to Coach Justin and his morning crew - it takes a special kind of group to train at 6am, and an even more special one to make it feel like you belong there - in such a short amount of time. Can’t wait to visit again!
