i have been training with Renshi Terry Bailey for 15 years and could not ask for a better instructor! Bailey's Family Karate is a fun, disciplined, and engaging atmosphere. If you are looking to train as a family, just for your child, or for yourself I highly recommend this school. The instructors are both skilled and patient, taking into account every learning style and speed. They keep the students engaged with everything from self defense to life skills. This is by far the best karate school I have been to in my 15 years of training.

I highly recommend Bailey's Family Karate. If you're looking to get in shape or learn self defense this is your place. Excellent for kids, Renshi Bailey excels at teaching kids discipline and respect as well as self defense. This is the best school on the Eastside of Indy. Come join us!

My son started attending in the Little Dragons course after he had taken to hitting in his day care. We thought a bit of discipline may help him learn to control it. He was very enthusiastic about attending his classes and within a week we stopped hearing about him hitting. He was paying better attention and not resorting to it as his go to option. He has continued(he is 6 now) with the assistance of several instructors at Bailey's Family Karate and is quickly approaching a junior black belt. He is still very enthusiastic about achieving this goal. The school has been great for teaching him discipline, respect and helping to raise his confidence. All of the instructors and members are very understanding and supportive. I would recommend anyone with interest in karate to check out this great dojo.

I originally brought my son here because he was being bullied at school. He is on the Autism Spectrum and I was assured he would be worked with the best way for him. He has been treated with respect in the most amazing way. I am now taking classes with him! I highly recommend doing so with your child(ren). This is a family environment that opens opportunities and confidence for everyone. My son has blossomed since starting here and has goals for the future. He was shy and quiet and now walks with his head up looking others in the eye (if you know kids on the spectrum that doesn't happen!) The Senseis and Teachers here are kind and patient yet know when to push you because they see your potential. Sensei Hernly, Sensei Ben, Sensei Tong, and Mr. Henry are eager to teach and genuinely love what they do. They are here for the students and nothing more.

Hernly Family Karate (Eastside location) might have an outdated sign out front, but don’t let that fool you—this place is a gem for kids and adults alike! It's located in the same parking lot as Family Dollar and Uncle Bills. My 5-year-old absolutely loves the Lil Dragon classes, which strike a perfect balance of karate basics and fun games that keep the little ones engaged and excited. The regular classes for older kids and adults are just as impressive, with a welcoming vibe and solid instruction. The three instructors are fantastic—friendly, knowledgeable, and hands-on. They rotate occasionally, so you get to know them all, and it’s rare for them to rely on higher-ranked students to lead, which sets this place apart from others. Best of all, it’s super affordable, especially compared to another nearby karate school charging around $300 a month for kids’ classes. CRAZY! Great training at a fraction of the cost, making it a no-brainer for families or adults looking to get into martial arts.
