reviewsWhat Members Say
Members consistently praise the friendly and helpful staff, describing them as kind and accommodating. Common concerns include frequent equipment and amenity issues, with the sauna and pool often closed, persistent sewer odors in the weight area, and significant parking challenges that result in tickets despite proper registration. Some members feel the equipment balance favors cardio machines over weights, leading to wait times during busy periods, while others appreciate the comprehensive facilities including basketball courts, pools, and diverse exercise options. The gym receives mixed feedback on value, with some noting additional costs for classes like yoga and comparing pricing unfavorably to alternatives.

Really nice place to work put and meet people. On the first floor there are two group exercise rooms, a yoga studio and a traing room with heavy bags et cetera. The pool area has a five lane lap pool, another pool for water arobics and child play, a souna and a hot tub. One can reach the pool area thru the men's, women's or family locker rooms. Meeting rooms and lounges are also on this floor. A child care facillity is available for the little ones mornings and evenings. The second floor is exciting with lots of windows and fun. Plenty of cardio machines: stair steppers, several forms of elliptical trainers, upright and recumbant cycles, treadmills, etc. Dumbells, barbells, and kettleballs aplenty. Cable and weight machines. Eleven eGYM units that are electronic exercise wonders. Three full sized courts for basketball, volleyball, pickleball, etc. The third floor has a 1/10th mile walking/running track with a view of the courts on the inside a great views of dpwntown Indy outside. Parking is provided for members but can be full in tge early evening. Lilly opens their lot just to the north during these times. The Y is for all, young, old, active, those new to fitness, and everyone in between. Stop by for a visit and be impressed.

Nice facilities. Disappointing how much extra a yoga class costs. Yikes. Planet fitness plus an membership at a yoga studio would be cheaper. This place is good if you need a pool and basketball courts.

If you need a reason to join, this location is not the reason. The staff is kind enough, but nothing ever works. The sauna is always closed and when it's open the hours are super limited. If the pool is closed the sauna is closed. If you stay too long by accident or aren't registered right by the staff, you get charged for parking - if there is any parking available in the first place. There's no play place for kids like the others. Other locations serve coffee... Something special... There's a lot of room for improvement at this location. Every time I go I am disappointed by something. It's just sad.

I want to love this gym because it’s so close to my house. It’s the best commercial gym near me in my opinion but it needs a lot of work. There is a constant sewer smell on the second floor near the heavy weight area. They prioritize way too many cardio machines over weights. The gym needs more cables, more machines, more dumbbells etc. & less treadmills. There’s like 100 treadmills in there and they are never fully in use. I’m always waiting for a machine. Pool has been closed for weeks (sauna included). I hate that this is my best option in a gym so close to home. It’s okay if you go during hours when no one is there. But any other time good luck getting a decent workout in. On a positive note, staff is great. Add more weights, fix the stink on 2nd floor, & open up the pool/sauna again & we’re golden.

Actually our family has been Y members since 2001. We belong to the Fishers center, and have had the best experience with the classes, staff, various programs. I have made many friends through the Y, including staff. My daughter is a student downtown and began going to the Irsay YMCA in August 2025. She likes the center and offerings, but the parking hassles has made her not wanting to go. She has provided all the documentation the Y needs to avoid being ticketed. Fortunately, the Y erases the charges for these tickets, but it requires her to go to the visit the Y Office every time she visits. It’s hard to believe that this is an acceptable practice at this center. We have received maybe 15 tickets in 4 months, since August ($102 per ticket.) In November, I called the Y to help resolve this and was encouraged to contact Jacob. I left a detailed message for him with a request to call me. It’s now December, and I’m looking at 3 more parking tickets. It seems like the answer is to leave a negative review, as I just noticed that another member with the same issue, received action in doing so.
