I love the welcoming environment that sifu sam cultivates. I have learned so much about traditional Chinese martial arts starting as an absolute beginner. Every instruction comes with the intention behind it that gives the context that makes everything make sense. Highly recommend at least trying out a tai chi class! If you're like me you'll be talked into staying for kung fu and fall in love with that too!

If you’re thinking about it… DO IT. Aun Loon Gwan is a Louisville treasure. Sifu Sam is an amazing teacher. Genuine and warm, he made me feel at ease from day one and has created an environment of safety and acceptance that is conducive to learning. In only a short time, my balance and body awareness has improved greatly, and thanks to Sifu Sam’s teaching, I can’t imagine it not being a part of my life. 10/10 would recommend.

Sifu Sam led a seminar at our company’s offsite retreat, and it was a great experience! He guided us through several stretches and breathing techniques that were both relaxing and energizing. This was truly a unique and memorable session for our group. He even brought two of his students along, which added to the experience. I highly recommend Sifu Sam for any team event or wellness program!

I started my journey as a 43-year-old loner with no previous martial-arts experience. I came across Aun Loon Gwan and reached out. Sifu Sam took the time to discuss the class and answered all my questions, then encouraged me to come in for a free class to see how everything worked. I was honestly terrified going to my first class. Not only was this a brand-new journey, but joining an existing group of people wrecked my nerves. That, however, was the last time I felt uncomfortable. The moment I stepped into class, Sifu Sam and the other students greeted me. I suddenly felt welcomed, encouraged, and completely supported on my own path. Fast-forward a few months, and I can honestly say this has been one of the most satisfying adventures I’ve ever embarked on. Sifu Sam is incredible! Every class he demonstrates his wealth of knowledge, unparalleled patience, and constant encouragement. I feel better than I ever have, I’ve lost weight, and the sciatica pain that plagued me is completely gone! My fellow students are an amazing group of people. Every class they show their support and positivity. I’ve felt welcomed since day one and feel grateful to have them as my Kung Fu family. If you have any interest in Kung Fu or Tai Chi, do yourself a favor and contact Sifu Sam. I have no doubt that this is the best school in town.

I walked into a large, well lit room, where students were milling around waiting for the class to begin. Sifu Sam was preparing to address the class and, when he did, I was pleasantly surprised by how welcoming and gracious he was. He introduced the new students, including me. Everyone turned to say hi. Nice. Sifu assured the class that beginners were very welcome. Then we formed lines to do stretches and then we formed small groups according to each student’s level. More experienced students were assigned to each group so we beginners got personalized instruction all under the watchful gaze of Sifu Sam. Sifu was always there to answer questions, show how to do the forms correctly and was always generous with his praise when something was done right. Sifu spoke of open mind, open heart. He spoke of proper breathing and focused on the mental and physical benefits of this ancient discipline. In short, he is a great teacher and a master communicator. If any of this sounds appealing to you, drop in and take a class. See for yourself. I think you’ll agree that you won’t find a better place to learn and study kung fu and tai chi. .
